Born and raised in SF, but moved north to raise a family. Liberals, activists and politicians have ruined the city.
As far as parking, yes you need a garage for a nice car which is an additional expense. Unless, you have a good parking spot at work, leave your car home. Garage the vette during the week and drive the vette out of the city on the weekends.

Lived in SF from 95 to 2001.
Moved to Pleasant Hill but still work in SF.
Took my vette 6 times to SF, 3 times broke the front lip.
No SF is not good for corvettes, especially if you have front lip or side skirts installed.
Parking, only inside garage. If you park on the street say bye bye to your bumpers.

If you really want to live inside the City as you suggest, sell your nice cars and buy an old beater. If you decide to live in one of the suburbs and take BART into town, than keep your nice cars.

Just take note that the BART system is over 40 years old and is a very unreliable system now as it shows its age. Worst part is the stinky bums that sleep on train and take up all the space and clear the people out from their horrid odor. Train system is getting more crowded and much more difficult now to get a seat during commute hours.

I've been there enough to know that the only thing I'm driving up there is a lifted suv with big balloon tires with lots of soft traveling suspension.
