Going to Pahrump by new route to me ...
Decided to go CA 120 east to US 6, Nev 264/266 to US 95. Mostly since I've never been further than the top of Tioga in the past. Any input on stuff to watch out for appreciated, I'm in no rush since I'll be leaving early and don't expect to hit any crowds entering Yosemite. Also, I'm thinking that filling up in, say Oakdale, I might be a bit short getting all the way to Pahrump. Thanks for any suggestions.

That's about 430-440 miles. There's gas about 135 miles from Oakdale in Lee Vining but it's expensive as all gas is in that area. I prefer 108 to 120.

That will be useful since I was looking for a different way home, mid week. I won't have to mess with the main park latter in the day.

I used to have to drive from Modesto over to Bishop for work sometimes. If you are an aggresive driver 108 is faster and if you get a speeding ticket in Yosemite its a federal offense. If you go through Yosemite both ways save your entrance ticket-its good for a week. You could also try going down 395 to ca136 /ca 190 through Death Valley. In Nevada watch out cresting hills-the nhp hide behind them. Also CHP works on 395 alot .Avoid Yosemite on weekends. One time I plugged an address in las vegas into my ole ladies nav system in her car and it ended up being shorter to go to vegas over 108/Death Valley then all the way around through Bakersfield.Have a fun trip.Gas iss a little cheaper in Bishop.

I picked up my 05 M3 back in 08 in Oakdale and drove to LV. I went on 120 through Yosemite (got cold above 6500 feet and had to put the top up), down 395 and stopped in Mammoth for Dinner and on to 168/266 to cut over to 95.
Primary reason was the fun roads on that route and the ability to visit Mammoth. Nice trip with a great spot to let the M3 run. You will have even more fun in a Corvette. Do note the pass through Yosemite heading East closes sometime in November most years.

Thanks for the last inputs, back from doing the Corvette Owners School at Spring Mt, great experience even if I had to cut it short. That also resulted in having to make it home by fastest route so I got to see 127, 58 to I5 one more time, boring but faster. I did keep to a modest pace through the Park and that also allowed me to stop and look some. Lots of bikes on a Sunday. Most interesting thing though was the back up at 10:45 for the East entrance as I exited, very long line, guessing over 100 cars. I will do 108 at some point in the future.

The 190 trip through DV as described is also incredible.
People talk to me, I have done every back road in CA at some point.

My Fav goin to LV?...
First, get to Bishop, CA. Go thru 120 if no hurry and you can enjoy the view! 108 is fun, Hwy 4 is good, even 88 is fast and beautiful and will get ya to Bishop. After Bishop, head south on 395 to just before Big Pine and take Hwy 168 East. It's a one-laner in places, many woop-de-dos and some hard turns and long straights! - all fun stuff! That will get you to 256 for more of the same! Then you'll hit Hwy 95 to head south to LV. Goin' there or comin' home - either way, I recommend it at least once! (Right Grzldvt1?)

Thanks for all the inputs. The COE was a blast. I expected more Stingray's than the 4 out of 14 in our class. Lots of Z06's but a real challenge for some of those drivers. Another base model and myself were lapping with our instructor in lead and passing two other groups that had 5 of the Z06's in them. You forget how slow you were when you first started on track and I'm sure 650HP is a handful. They let us go as fast as we were capable. Worth doing if you get the chance.
