Default Northern California Shops

Hello,

I am awaiting to take delivery of my 2017 Z06. Does anyone know of a northern California shops specialize in C7 corvettes? I like to change exhaust and headers.

Also what do you recommend for exhaust and headers manufacturers?

Abel in Rio Vista. They do all the work on my car, including headers, exhaust, cam and other things...

Synergy is good too. Synergy tunes my car.

All good info in the posts above. Are you aware that long tube headers won't pass a smog check here in CA when you finally need to get one?

Just curious, would changing out the X Pipe be grounds for a smog failure?

I would doubt that most smog inspection stations would be able to detect a X-pipe change. I think they are most concerned about the cat relocations when you go to long tubes and that wouldn't be a problem with just a x-pipe change.

My biggest concern is will it pass a smog test with the deletion of the two small cats? I know I don't have to worry about that for a few years and I could always put the old X-Pipe and cats back on.

I had the exhaust recall done which added two smaller cats in the X pipe, then later installed a full Z06 exhaust with two cats and passed smog here in CA. I am also boosted with a CARB certified A&A kit.

As I understand it, the secondary cats on the Z06 (could be the same on the Stingray, don't know) aren't monitored by the engine. Installer an aftermarket X pipe would simply do away with those secondary cats. This mod would only be visual inspection red flag in California.

By the way, either Abel Chevrolet (Rich) or Synergy...you can't go wrong.

I am sure you have seen and will see most of the posts which will point you to Abel Chevy in Rio Vista. They are fabulous. Don't be shy about the distance from wherever you might be, as they are a full-service shop and will work with you. They specialize on Corvettes, provide top notch service and help to maintain the culture of the Corvette. Good luck.
