I'm sure forum members would be interested in the cost, and any comments, when the job is completed.

I just had mine done last weekend. I called Able in Rio Vista and asked who they used, and they recommended Speedy Glass in Concord.

They used OEM glass from the factory (unlike the cheap stuff Safelite uses) and did a good job. Took a while, about 2 hours, because so many things have to come off the car. It's interesting and scary to watch....

Check with your insurance agent, and if you have the right to demand an OEM windshield, do so, especially if you have HUD.

I would be interested in what supporting material you have that confirms Safelite uses "cheap stuff".

I would think that all windshields are required to meet a safety standard (?).

If you have HUD, the windshield has a special reflective material laminated into it. The HUD will work without this, but the image will be slightly blurred.

Are you implying that Safelite does not use a HUD friendly windshield,
or just stating a fact?

I was asking spireland what prompted him to post that Safelite uses
"cheap stuff".

OP, it would be helpful to know where in Northern California you are at?

Safelite typically uses a "house" brand.

It meets safety specs and they claim it meets the OEM requirements.

I would rather have the same exact glass that went into my car in Bowling Green than someone else's version.

All I'm saying is if you get an OEM windshield, you know it has it. If your insurance states you can demand OEM parts, why not do so?

Speedy Glass came out to my house to do it. There were two guys that did the job. I did have a long wait for my glass cause GM took so long to ship it so it could have been an exception, though they didn't say that.

I would ask again, say you used them due to a forum recommendation and they just did one in Oakley for a friend.
