Without a doubt 1974 had to be the worst year, first year of that disgusting bumper. The feds really killed performance that year. 1974 was pretty much the end of performance for all cars.
For those that say 1984 ,I disagree, that car was pretty special at the time. I remember reading all the magazines, a corvette that really did handle. I couldn't wait to find a used one, couldn't afford new. Opening that clam shell hood was to die for, aluminum suspension components, 7 speed tranny, digital dash, those seats, bose stereo, brakes that actually worked, etc. The list goes on and on, 1984 was the first year a Corvette became a real sports car.
He's right. When the C4 arrived, Corvette morphed from a boulevard cruiser, to a straight-line, 1/4 mile brute, to a pithy secretary's car, to a world-class performance vehicle worthy of taking on all but the best European offerings at the time.
