Default What is some pathetic behavior you've witnessed recently?

Some of the comments in the CVS Inhaler thread, about where society has spiraled down the toilet got me thinking.
What's the most pathetic display of human behavior you've witnessed recently?

For me, it was right around the 4th of July and I was in Toy-r-Us with son.
We're in the check out line and there is a lady giving the cashier a sob story, holding this toy in her hand and begging the cashier saying something to the effect of "It's my nieces birthday and I have to buy this for her, but I don't can't afford it at full price. Can you give me a discount?". In the end, the cashier and manager found several coupons and the lady got the toy.

This is where personal responsibility comes into play. I'm guessing she has begged and scammed her way through life, because people give into her. Maybe if you weren't too busy buying things you couldn't afford, you'd have the cash to buy a present for your niece.
I was always taught, if you don't NEED it, you don't buy it.

But what was even sicker, was the fact that the Toy-R-Us employees actually allowed her to get away with it.

I'm so appalled by the behavior of people these days that it's honestly hard to single out any certain event. I'm disgusted by society.

It's far easier to single out to people worthy of respect and admiration.

Yesterday morning, while sitting in a courtroom, I noticed that the majority of the (defendants - isn't that what you call the people being acused of something?) had little remorse for what they had done, and then wanted to complain about the system treating them unfairly.

I was sitting next to a guy who was the for an unknown reason, and he got off talking about how he had been a convicted felon twice before and even spent time in prison. He was talking about how in the county we are in they will lock you up for marijuana posession. He was saying it isn't fair because in the next county over they just slap you on the hand and fine you...

H E L L O maybe if you weren't messing with illegal chit in the first place it wouldn't matter who's county treated you a certain way..

It's situations like that, which unfortunately are very common, that can harden peoples' hearts to other situations (CVS thread) and just think she's out to get some meds for cheap by staging an attack. Even if that's not the case.

Anyway, I've seen so many things like that I can't even think of just one. Those are the sorts of things you just sit with a blank look on your face like, "Are you f'n serious right now?"

on my daily bike ride yesterday, I saw an obese man in his "power scooter" accompanying his SO while she fast walked, and he sat there puffing a big stogie. they were mid 40's I believe. I know it may not be his fault that he is the way he is but chances are it is his fault.

There are all kinds of mooches and parasites out on the loose
As long as Toyz Yer Azz made a sale and moved some junk off the shelf, what's the big deal? It's not like she was in there shop lifting anything
I'm more worried about mooches and parasites at a higher level who are doing nothing for anybody while extracting big money from the unsuspecting masses

P.S. The most pathetic thing I witnessed lately was a completely out of it stumbling drunk guy getting heaved (and I do mean heaved!) out the front door of the Creekside Inn in SB last Saturday night
I can still hear him laying upside a car in the parking lot in the misting rain moaning to whomever was nearby "what did I do, what did I do?"

After a lifetime of watching how a sense of entitlement has empowered my sibling to coast by in life living and leeching off my mother, I've come to realize that my sibling would've found someone else to leech off of if she hadn't. Sometimes, it's a personality thing.
