I bought a CZ P07 at a local gun shop for $399 and I love it. I've shot the Sigma and the P250 before and the CZ is in another universe. The trigger breaks in very nicely after a few hundred rounds. One cool feature is that you can switch it from a decocker to safety. About 1800 rounds later I don't have a single complaint.

You pick up a Sigma, the Sig, then you pick up the CZ and you'll end up getting the CZ 10/10 times. CTD has it for $411 and I'm sure if you search around the internet/locally you can find it for a bit less.

Of course, put the only piece of chit State (I HATE IT) that does not allow carry conceal!!

If it was not for family and career I would be get the heck out of IL so fast that it would make your head swim, and of course its Nobama Country also!!!

That CZ looks good but its not as compact as the Sig Saur compact .40 which looks sweet and allows me to carry when I travel to other states with my Utah Gun Permit.

How big is the CZ .40 compared to my Beretta 92F, looking for a good carry conceal compact .40 cal. and I don't like the way Glocks look (never did although I know they have great reputations).

I've seen those sigmas listed as low as $229. They seem to be unpopular bc of the extremely heavy trigger.

See if you can find a Gen 3 glock 23 used. It should be in the 400.00 to 425.00 range.

Yeah, just about have the Sigma ruled out b/c of that, its size, and looks to much like a Glock (don't like the Glock's look).

Well off to my brother's to visit with family and show him the new Bushmaster AR15 Carbon I picked up today!

Keep up the info guys and the best place to buy online for bang for the buck (and thanks you)!

I may be a bit out of touch, but, if I'm going to bet my life on a handgun for defense, I'm going to get what is most reliable, functional and accurate, not what's cheapest. My life is worth a lot...to me.

YMMV,

Harry

I'm going to second this...might have to do some digging but $385-$425 for a police trade in G23 is not a stretch.

Seen 'em here local for $259. Friend has one. Hates the trigger. Does shoot well, though.

There is a video on you tube on how to remove one of the trigger springs. It looks really easy and would probably improve the trigger quite a bit.

There is no way that I would ever defend my life with an unreliable POS cheaply made handgun and that clearly is not what this thread is about. Now if you don't think I can purchase a quality .40 cal compact pistol for $400 or less then let me know and I will appreciate your opinion, but I believe I can and want knowledgable opinions concerning what is that best option.

The thread is about what is the best bang for the buck value, when it comes to .40 cal Compact Automatic Pistol, that is a quality gun and reliable. Most peope who posted up here seem to get that point, what is the best .40 cal handgun for a $400 price vs. what is the cheapest (inexpensive) POS .40 auto on the market, that is likely to fail you if you ever need it.

I would stay away from the Sigmas. I saw several fail in one full day at the range during the police academy.

The sigma feels great but the trigger is junk. I've shot a couple, and they feel decently accurate. I'd not pay much for one though. It would not be a go to gun.

I could write a few pages ( I'm full of opinions LOL )about various considerations of CCW guns and defensive guns but I will make it short.

As far as I can tell, the Sigma is a good gun with an overly heavy trigger. In a really stressful situation this may not be a terrible disadvantage as an accidental discharge is a strong possibility. Most shootings are at very close range so the trigger contributing to a drop in accuracy is not as important as the reduction of AD.

Given that, you want to be comfortable and confident in your carry gun. If you predominately target shoot you probably won't like the Sigma. If you do a defensive class or training you will probably be satisfied with it.

After saying that, I think there are better options for $400 (maybe a little more) Sig 2022, http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...GPRO+40SW+12RD

or check out some of the Ruger's.

CDNNinvestments.com has S&W M&P's for $425. You will have a FFL fee and shipping in there though.

After I wrote that I realized you may not be thinking of CC at all. Then I would just recommend the 2022.
