Default [GUN PORN] Mauser Broomhandle

I couldn't say no to this for $400. From one of my obscure little gun dealers:

Quote:
1920s vintage Mauser "bolo" broom handle pistol. The reason for the shortened grip and barrel was due to German post-World War I restrictions on military pistols. A good percentage of this particular model went to Russia hence the nickname bolo short for Bolshevik. The major parts of this pistol are matching and it is in working order. The bore is poor. There is no finish. Still a gun with an interesting history.

It's an ugly duckling, but I've already got a nice one for a safe queen...this'll be a shooter.

Nice. I haven't seen one in years. Used to see them a lot back in the 70s. I shot one with the shoulder stock once, but the bore was bad in it also. Didn't shoot too good.

You stole that one! I saw a broomhandle Mauser in Knoxville today at the gun show (in similar condition) for $750.00! Nice piece of history.

Very nice. Serial numbers seem to match. Do these have the numbers on the firing pin like Lugers? Do not try to restore it, just keep it as it is. Just saw the update on the thread. I can't tell you anything that you do not already know. mike...

Damn, looks like the Bolo model?

I love these guns. At $400 it was a steal!

Beautiful P08.

I've got a soft spot for those, too, but the days of the "affordable shooter" have pretty much come and gone. It seems like now there's only really rough junk and very expensive collector pieces for sale, and I don't know near enough about them to dabble in the "deeper end" of the collecting pool!

I've got one; it's nothing that a museum would ever want, but it looks pretty nice and it works, so I can't complain.

Had one for a short time before trading it for another wartime piece but I loved it! Far better than the Nambu.

Its a great piece to shoot.

Very nice. I haven't seen too many at gun shows but have always wanted one. It sounds like you got a really good deal, too.
