Default Daily Driver

Okay, I have an 08 Expedition EL 4x4 as my DD. However my lease is coming up!! I want input, but here are my issues...
First, I tow a boat, a heavy one!! It needs to have at least a 9K towing capacity, 4WD, and a long wheelbase! Second, I have a few young ones! Third, I want a cool looking truck as the DD, but I don't want to look like I belong in the hills, because I live in a city.
Any thoughts?
Oh yeah, lastly, I would love to get more that 12 miles a gallon!! (That is a tough one with 4WD).
Maybe I should just buy used for a couple of years and stop leasing??

Isn't there a diesel version of that vehicle or a GM equivalent?

Of the expedition el? It replaced the excursion! Also, there is the suburban, yukon xl, and caddi that are the gm equivelents. I was thinking that a caddi ext might be !

Check out the Escalade. Not too sure about towing numbers but I bet its up there (or pretty close) with your Expedition. They get about 16.5mpg avg which isnt too bad.

I think I am leaning to either leasing an F-150 Platinum, or buying a used Caddilac Escalade EXT. Time to try a pickemup truck!! I have a month to decide and then I only will have the Vette for a while!!!

Ever thought of trying to find an older diesel Excursion? They will get 15 or more MPGs.

If your going to go with a pickup style truck and you tow that kind of weight along with wanting decent mileage then diesel is the only way to fly. Dont get me wrong..... there are plenty of gas engined trucks that are up to the task of pulling 9Klbs but nothing will do it like a diesel.

On a side note I have the 6.2L 6 speed combo in my 2008 H2, it tows absolutely fantastic but leaves a bit to be desired in terms of fuel economy, its heavier (3/4 ton 8600 gvwr) than the Escalade EXT and less aerodynamic so you will likely see a bit better MPG's from the Caddy.

I have also done a little bit of reading about Ford's new Ecoboost V6 offered in the F-150, looks to be very impressive for towing/power and gets pretty good mileage.... worth looking into.

Good luck whichever way you decide to go

Love the Hummer, hate the MPG of it (11.5). My 2 borther in laws had them. Plus the towing capacity is only 6600 lbs. The beast is to f'n heavy!! Leaning to the Caddi because of the styling, comfort for a DD. As a CPA it would look bad going to clients in a F-150. Just a stigma I have.

2003-2007 H2's had the 6.0L 4 speed drivetrain, the 2008/2009 H2's have the 6.2L 6 speed drivetrain with a drastically increased tow rating (I would have to look it up but I believe its either 8,800 or 9,800 lbs). I towed my friends 32' twin bigblock powerboat on a triple axle trailer with no issues.... total weight (boat, trailer, fueled, gear etc..) was around 9,000 lbs.

If you like the Hummer look at the 2008/2009, completely redesigned interior with much higher build quality along with the new drivetrain make for a far more refined truck..... We owned a 2006 H2 prior to the 2008 and I can tell you that the 2008 is superior in every way.

Friend of mine just picked up a 2009 Excalade EXT.... very nice truck.
