Chevy Tahoe Feedback
I hope nobody minds asking for some advice here. I need a second vehicle and I am looking at a used 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ. I was wondering if anybody who owns a Tahoe can provide some feedback on reliability, issues, etc.. Thanks!

Bought my '07 LT new and now have 60K on the clock. This is a DD with minimal problems. Replaced tires and brakes at 55K first time. Cruise stopped working about a year ago. Truck still looks like new with a couple of washes a year except for the 20" alloys which have corroded badly. 4 cylinder gas saver feature is seamless; have never felt it switch over. Mileage is 14 around town and 18-19 on the interstate. The alternator also has a gas saving feature which takes it offlline several times an hour. Don't be alarmed if you see the volts go down to 11...it comes back up in a few minutes.
All in all this is a great truck...much better than the '98 I traded in.

I think you need to post this in the Other Cars section. This has nothing to do with C6's plus you will possibly get more replies.

Honestly, tahoe was great for me, but I find having a pickup is more utilitarian. I just bought a very nice pickup for daily use and hauling stuff. It was almost the price of my vette. it has all the bells and whistles of a nice car, and the bed of a truck, a win for me.

Two 09 Tahoes here! Both run solid, 80k+ miles on both of them, all we've ever had to replace were the tires and the batteries. They are both LS models, so far everything still looks close to new, and everything still works on both of them.

I have an 03 with 128k miles on it and i LOVE mine. Can't ask for a better car, for hauling stuff or just comfy driving. Hardly any issues with mine ever (knock on wood)

I had a 09, great truck but I've heard of a lot of electrical issues on early and mid year 07's. I'd get an 08 or newer as 07 was the first year for that body style.

What kinda real world fuel economy do you guys get in these? Especially in a 4x4?

My wife drives a 2005 Suburban 2wd (same as a Tahoe just longer ) that has almost 100K and we have had very few problems with it over the years. Solid car with a nearly bulletproof drive train. My wife seldom resets her average mpg and it stands at 15.6 mpg for all those years last time I looked. I can get about 22 mpg on long highway trips. Not too shabby for a 6000+lb vehicle.

2008 LTZ here. 115k miles.
We bought the White Diamond model, and the paint impresses me more with every passing day. It has held up extremely well against the elements. She never washes it... ever. I only do when I have time. Despite all the snow, salt, and rain, it looks brand new.
In terms of mechanics, it has been nearly flawless. The factory battery gave out pretty early, and the tire pressure monitors have been basically useless no matter how many times we have them relearned. The 4x4 system is one of the best I've ever used. Through the North Carolina mountains in 8 inches of snow, my father was able to seamlessly travel at speeds north of 60mph. He passed snow plows like they were standing still. Bad life choice? Absolutely. But the bottom line is that it worked well for him haha.
The gas mileage is pretty impressive for what it is. My 4.8 Silverado is lighter and her Tahoe manages better mileage. The active fuel management is really cool and works as well as advertised. We have averaged as good as 22mpg on the highway. The interior has been durable as well. No fading of the leather or plastics. Everything inside has held up really well.
We have been extremely happy with our purchase. Traded a 2004 Escalade ESV for it and never looked back.

Thanks for all the feedback!! Anybody in the Miami area that could look at this one for me? The owner says its been dealer maintained and is spotless, but I'm hesitant to buy without looking at it.

Go 09 up, 6 speed auto and Bluetooth for phone ( option code UPF). They also made a few with the 6.2 if you can find one.

Is the 22 highway a pretty typical number, or a "we once did it" sort of thing? My old GC would typically average 21ish highway, but I once got 26 by going 65 and drafting on flat ground.

I had an 09 w/ 5.3 and 6 speed, I averaged around town 14.5 / 15 MPG, Highway was usually 17-18 MPG and I had done as good as 21 MPG all highway if I was nice to it.

My 04 Model has 178k on it. Original engine, trans, rear end. Only issue was pump rub in transfer case. A/M mod fixed that for good. And my '04 with a roof rack and fully loaded going 80-85 on the hwy gets about 13-14 MPG. Towing it get 6-7. I don't really care, never had a payment on it.

We've done it a few times, but it isn't regular around where we live. Too many hills in Eastern Kentucky. Usually when we travel and finds level roads, it's pretty easy. That is if I don't get a lead foot. And let's be honest, I always have a lead foot.
