My wife's 2012 S4 had a sticker price of $55,300. We got it for invoice which was in the $48,000 range. That was 15 months ago so I can't remember the exact figure. I know it was around 7 grand they knocked off.

Any time I buy a car I at least expect 10% off asking price for an out the door price, but usually end up doing a little better.

Audi rookie here. I just bought a Q7. My experience is that Audi doesn't discount off MSRP as much or as quickly as the U.S. brands. For the Q7, the dealers near me don't have many in stock and seem comfortable to hold firm. I suggest you look at the Audiworld.com forum's. I got useful info there.

A5 isn't a specialty car and I can't see why you can't get one for invoice of a few hundred over.

Play the dealers against each other and you will eventually find a great deal!

You can find deals on Audi. I ordered my 2013 RS5 and received more than $4,000 off sticker price.

Audi has a 6% markup (over invoice) and no holdback money. I just bought my 2013 S4 in early April which was right in between no longer being able to order a 2013 and before orders were being taken for 2014 models. I was lucky enough to have my dealer locate the exact car I wanted (color and options)..... I got my car for 6.5% off sticker (or .5% under invoice), stickered at $57,520 and I purchased at $53,735 but I also have a very good connection at my local dealer (a family member knows the owner), I also received top dollar for my trade (2007 Acura TL-S). In my area (Chicagoland) the dealers typically do not discount these cars much. I did a lot of homework before purchasing and the car I wanted with the options I wanted was pretty scarce. My purchase experience on this car was the best I have ever had, top notch customer service!! I also absolutely love the car.

Right now if you are able to find a 2013 still on the lot (or can have your dealer do a locate/trade)... being that your buying a regular model A5 vs. S5 or RS5 it should be a bit easier to locate a car. You may be able to negotiate a deal at or slightly under invoice, I would not expect to get that kind of pricing should you decide to go with a 2014 as Audi typically does not sell cars at invoice (or under) due to no holdback. Right now I believe Audi is offering a couple of incentives for current owners (loyalty program) and for new owners coming from competing brands (MB, BMW, Lexus etc.....), pretty sure its an extra $1K off.

The guy above that said he bought his wifes S4 that stickered at $55K+_ for $48K..... you should find out what dealer he bought at and travel there if they are really giving those kind of deals That is nearly 13% off of sticker??? Dealers for manufacturers that have 0 holdback typically don't make a habit of selling cars for 7% under invoice?? That is an absolutely killer deal.

After reading your reply I asked my wife what we paid for her car, just to clarify, and for some reason I was way off. God, I just turned 40, not 70. So anyway, she said we got $1,000 off sticker (which was $53500, not $55,000) and they gave her $19,000 for her 328Xi. She said they knocked off $1,000 from sticker because she was going from a BMW to an Audi. Sorry about the bad information in my first post. I don't know what the hell I was thinking.
