I have enjoyed reading your last three threads. Your work is inspiring. I am glad your wife is doing better. If you are still in the planning stages for DC try and schedule your visit around the Cherry Blossom Festival. It is a must see if you are going to be in DC for spring.

Thanks Mark. I'm happy that you enjoyed the builds, which was enjoyable for me as well.
We've actually had airline and motel reservations for a wile now, and it looks like we might get to see some of the bloom, because of the cold Feb. we set our dates hoping to catch some bloom, but also trying to miss the brunt of the tourist crush. We've tightened the purse strings a bit lately, so we'll be staying at the Harrington and using a lot of mass transit.
thanks for the link, as it also branched out into some other good info on the area.

Lost some more hair this morning trying to get my Jag squared away [arrggg]. in the PM I installed a new Hurst shifter in the 59. it has a better curve and fancier chrome.

Ok now I NEED a Corona. after spending 6 hours today cutting and buffing the TOP (only) of the 59. that's a BIG top there folks. began by wrapping a piece of 2000 grit around a "stir stick" (what I use for block sanding). when it was "cut" to my satisfaction I put the foam pad on the buffer and used some Presta cutting cream and finished with Presta Polishing compound and some wax.
I feel like I ran a marathon and can hardly walk (dang I'm getting old). maybe a Corona wile sitting in the hot tub…. YA, that's the ticket. and I still have the rest of the car to do!

We made it back from DC yesterday. it's a long flight from Oregon, so we're still in recovery mode. we did have a good trip, but also happy to be home again.
The cherry blossoms were pretty much gone when we arrived, but the people were still there. BOY were the people still there. the first day in DC we had a huge parade a block from our motel for emancipation day (125000 extra people in town) and then last Sunday there was an even bigger party and concert at the capitol mall, in the same area, for earth day. that brought in a meer 250000 extra tourists. even without the "extra" people, that place is nutso elbow to elbow and bumper to bumper every day. I'm pretty sure that if a persons horn quits working they just call a roll-back for a tow. it seems to be a local custom to honk at each other as much as possible.
I look forward to building a fire in my shop tomorrow and continuing to cut and buff on the 59' .

I'm glad the country boy and his better half had a wonderful time in DC. I have to fight the traffic every few weeks because USCG Headquarters is located there. Glad to hear from you and I am one step closer to painting my Vette. Thanks for all your advice and I am using your wooden sticks to block it as I speak.

Glad those sticks are working out for you. are you wearing gloves when you use them? I like the yellow gripper gloves to help avoid sanding off the finger tips, and they grip the paper well also.
I used one of my sanding sticks today as well, as I cut and buffed the 59s hood. one panel a day seems to be about all my back can take, but it's coming along.

Marty. just wait until you get the car all painted and then you get to cut and buff the brand new finish, all the wile worrying about cutting through the clear coat and forcing you to repaint the panel. you'll love it ;LOLG:
85* day today and a great turnout for the Friday night cruise to DQ. the 59s debut was a hit, and there were lots of nice cars in an overflow crowd. unfortunately I had forgotten my camera this time maybe next week I'll remember.

Hi Russ, I have you on this one. That will be Vic (the painter's job). He wants to do it. I am pretty good at all the rest of the stuff but when it's comes down to the details I lose it. I will do the areas not easily seen Your car looks fantastic!
