tranny dipstick buick century 3.1L
Ok super embarrassing question. I'm struggling to read the transmission dip stick on my 1998 Buick Century. I just changed the filter and fluid and want to make sure I topped it off correctly.
Parts store said it was 7.6 quarts fluid. I have added about 5 quarts. I drove car for about a mile, parked car on level ground, while holding break ran gear shifter (OD,3,2,1,R), put in park, let idle and checked fluid. I wiped stick clean and reinserted. Then came back and looked at the level... I repeated this process several times.
I think it looks fine but am questioning myself because I still have 2.5 quarts of transmission fluid sitting here. I see the cross hatch area where a warm transmission should read. The two holes have fluid but it's not coated up to that point.
How are you supposed to read these dips sticks. Unlike oil this stuff is so clear it's hard to see.
A sanity check would be greatly appreciated Thanks!
