Got another bottom feeder email via Craigs. Quotes KBB to me with 2X the mileage, then goes 1360 under it, sight unseen. I suppose Buyers use KBB and Sellers do NADA. Replied via email I'd split the diff on the two.

States he "doesn't want to spend time on this" and adds "20 would be fair price."

He's going to love todays NADA 25400 w/mileage/options as much as I appreciate his made up KBB 20.

He's probably a flipper looking to make a few quick bucks on it. I don't even respond to sight unseen offers. If they can't come to look at the car then I know they aren't serious buyers (unless they can steal it).

Turns out he was absent with approved leave. He was in LA for Thanksgiving. While there he reviewed his local area FL Craigslist and found my ad. His first opportunity to see the car during daytime was today and he did come by. He lives just a few miles away.

He is getting a damn good price on a car he's always wanted. Kinda like hitting a gold mine during your favorite Corvette search. He's had triple by-pass surgery and is now simplifying his life and also fulfilling his desire to finally own a M-B. Yet he is cautiously optimistic and wants the dealer to check the car this week because he's never bought used. I cannot imagine the dealer mechanic finding any fault with this car. But I'm going with the car so he doesn't stray into the the showroom where he will be accosted by the new car sales team.

His initial comment that he "doesn't want to spend time on this" did not meet with high fives in this household and he almost didn't get a reply. I could not rationalize anyone local conducting hard line negotiations by email and not bothering to look at it. But he was out of State for the holiday which he did not reveal to me till he returned last night.

The reason he is getting a deal is because I was getting ready to take it 2 hours away to Carmax. I've had people interested but no sale. These interactions make for interesting stories. Each one is different. Could have/should have documented every prospect that contacted me rather than a ttt post. There are always lessons to be learned. Lessons that can be applied for a lifetime. Both as a seller and buyer. The main FS thread has had a following all it's own to the tune of 5825 views to date. Not too shabby for a M-B on a C5 FS forum.
