Default Built 1998 trans am on craigslist

I found this built 1998 trans am on craigslist. Engine was swapped with an engine with a 2002 T/A. It has an ls6 bottom, cam, headers, heads, and more. Said to make 450hp. The engine is out of the car at the moment. He said he would do 4,500$ if I bought the car with the engine out of it, and have to put it in myself, or 5,000$ if he puts it in. It was built professionally and he has the paperwork. Car is in overall good condition. car has 130k on body and 60k on built engine.

Do you guys think thats a pretty good deal? A 450hp trans am for 5 grand or 4500 if I put the engine in?
He also said he would include the stock engine that was having problems he said wouldn't last much longer.

He says the engine swap is a one day job. I find that hard to believe. They are both ls1s though so would it be fairly simple?

Nope, that's BS. It CAN be a 1 day job, if you have 3-4 professional mechanics in a professional garage, with lifts, air tools, etc. But for 1 person in a garage, I highly doubt that can be done in 1 day. The engine has to come out through the bottom, keep that in mind...

Why can't it be lifted out the top?

It can be taken out through the top, buts it easier out the bottom, because on these cars the engine sits so far back under the firewall.

Here are some pics he sent me.. what do you think? I was under the assumption that he had 2 complete engines but I guess some of the top end stuff will have to be pulled off the stock engine for this one.
Let me know what you guys think

Now I'm starting to get worried. That "looks" like an RHS block and LSx heads. The block alone is worth 7500 bucks. That engine probably is worth 15k together. I smell a scam..

He seems like an honest guy and I kind of get the feeling that he doesn't really need the money he just wants to see it finished by someone. All i know about it is that it is an ls6 bottom with clevite bearings, a cam, and heads and headers. He told me he could sell the block on ebay for 3 grand so I cant see how I can be losing buying the whole car for 4500... I'm just hoping its not a bigger project than he's saying it is. I might be going to look at it tomorrow.

What makes you think its RHS?
