Default Nissan GTR Nismo: 7m 8s **Video** Can the Z07 equal or better?

Hey Guys,

Found this while looking for any more info on the Z07 ring time. What you all think about this compared to the Z? Can it equal, best or fall short?

Sébastien Buemi is a heckuva driver.
Good call by Nissan to hire him.

That was not a regular GT-R NISMO. That was the NISMO "N" Attack package which adds another $80K to the NISMO's +$150K price tag. As far as I know there hasn't been another one even made yet.

No the Z06/Z07 will not equal or best that time especially with the test method that GM uses at the Ring. They don't rent the track and they don't take many clear timed laps.

Ahh ok, whats your guestimate on Z07? I understand now that the times aren't to be taken really seriously with the different methods of time keeping.

Not a fair comparison like apples and oranges. I would expect the Nissan to best the Z due to the all wheel drive. However you can buy almost 2 Z's for the price.

Price being a non issue here, just want to know if its possible for the Z07. A lot of members had guesses in the sub 7m 10s area.

Not really, I expect the C7 Z to be faster around the track than the "regular" GT-R NISMO. The regular NISMO is not as fast around VIR as the C6 ZR1 or around Laguna Seca as the C6 ZR1 and C6 Z06/Z07.

It not really a different method of keeping time but a different level of commitment to try and get fast lap times. GM is there to do engineering evaluations first and lap times second on a true production car. Nissan brought a souped up version of the GT-R to get lap times and then decide to offer those mods as an aftermarket (and possibily factory line) package. They expend alot more effort in getting a Ring time.

Not sure what they will end up with since the Z07 was crashed, but I was expecting 4-5 sec quicker than the ZR1.

Well, Porsche had to get to an (almost) $900,000 car to beat the Nizmo. See:

What will Nissan do, now?

Another good video of a GTR eating people's lunch.

Takes down three 2,000HP Lambos.
