2015 Ariel Atom, now with 365 HP and less than 1400 pounds
Wow! Here is the press release for the new 2015 Ariel Atom with Turbocharger and 365 HP.
http://origin.library.constantcontac...ealease_r7.pdf
And my 2012 Ariel Atom 3 with (only) 300 HP is already faster than some single-seat race cars, as you can see in this video.
I can hardly wait to receive my new Turbocharged Ariel Atom, with 65 more HP, and no more weight!
Exciting times for those of us addicted to G's!

No, the 365 HP is the Turbocharged Honda 2.4 liter K24 four cylinder engine and six-speed manual with Limited Slip Differential. And the factory tells me that is on low boost with a conservative tune, for excellent reliability.
An extra 65 HP is really noticeable in a 1350 pound car.
Big Fun!

I changed the pedal position a little by tilting it closer to the brake pedal at the top , to help me blip the throttle while braking. And further from the brake pedal at the bottom of the throttle pedal so I never accidently hit the wrong pedal trying to accelerate. The pedal does not pivot, it is fixed at that leaning-left-at-the-top position.
Thanks, I really like that camera position/angle, so I can review what I'm doing in the car, at each point on the track.
ps. Thanks for that, too. But after a lifetime of going straight, having to learn to use wheel brakes instead of a parachute, AND try to learn how to turn corners, is proving to be a real challenge!
But big fun!

I put brake pads on the car once or twice a year, about $250 retail for the whole car, but in eight years the brake rotors have never been replaced, and have never been turned (machined), and still don't need it.
With the car weighing only about 1350 pounds, it is very easy on the engine, drivetrain, brakes, and even tires. I have run a full season on one set of front tires, and typically I need two sets of rears to get me through a years racing.
Big fun, and not a lot of work, or expense.
And good resale value.
