Sure they over shot with an unrealistic MSRP. But after the first 5 months of an introduction every Corvette also gets significant discounts off MSRP. I got almost 12K off my then new 09 Z06. Which is actually a higher percentage off than what the Viper is offering.

I had a 2002 gen 2 gts, 2006, gen 3 coupe, now a 2013 gen 5. I would not consider the first two daily drivers. The gen 5 is the closest to what I would call a daily. I drive mine as often as possible. I don't like it in heavy downpours, but otherwise I take it work at least 60-70% of the time. I have a small SUV that was supposed to be my daily, but it stays parked most of the time. Still, almost everyone that I know that has one, also has another vehicle and most often the viper sees less street duty. I also don't care how many miles I rack up.

Exclusivity can kill a car if not done right.
I agree and viper sales/marketing was and still is an epic fail. I wish there was no 2015 or 2016 viper and then come out swinging with something with a signifcant power upgrade, maybe a blower on top of the V10. Only takes small boost with a 512 cubic inch motor to yield stupid power (like 640 is not enough..lol)......and if the car just goes away.....I am just fine with that too. Viper production is always a mystery

a dremel with a metal saw blade would be perfect to fix the wing and those front end do-dad's.

No offense to those of you hung like a bull, but I really wonder what the sales figures would be like if the car was offered with some kind of modern 'auto' transmission. Look at the % of people waiting on the A8 in the Z06 as an example.

I would chose the auto option if there was one.

I really like the Gen V, power was never a problem with the snake, but now the interior is right up there with others. The only thing about the Viper that I have a problem with is the huge gawk factor. I don't think I can put up with getting that much attention everywhere I go: work, dinner, lunch, getting gas, shopping,.... basically all the time.

Dang, the ACR pretty much sealed the deal for me. Amazing car. Hopefully the price isn't too crazy..

A DCT/Auto is inevitable for every sports car at this point. Maybe the Viper will borrow from the corporate parts bin and get the F1 transmission from Ferrari.

Personally I'm sticking with manual.

OR, now just hear me out, OR you could go with a non ACR model. Just a thought...

stop making sense!

did anyone catch the top gear episode the other night that had the 3 amigos driving the full tilt models from aston martin, lexus and a dodge viper. it was fun to watch, culminated in a bunch of hot laps around willow springs being chased by fighter planes playing laser tag with the cars.

The car is not with fiat anymore, it's back with dodge and priced where it should have been in the 1st place.

Second , anyone who takes an uninformed crack at this car, has the brand loyal blinders on again, I don't like wings either, corvette or viper , but this car is just plain sick.
It's Dodges middle finger at GM's new Z07, until the next latest and greatest vette sticks it's middle finger back, then Dodge again etc........

And people don't think this is good?

if this was in the C7Z thread there would already be 15 pages on garbage, so many great cars out there I like tasting them all, no matter who makes it, the production model won't be this low to the ground, That thing is slammed to the max.

The Viper ACR is a street car while the Viper ACR-X is a race car.

The ACR-X race car was the second Viper race car. The first Viper race car was simply called the Competition Coupe.

It looks like the new ACR mostly just includes the aerodynamic parts for those who build their own race cars
.
