Toyota FT-1 (Supra) - future C7 competition - overstyled or sporty?
Everything published about the next Toyota Supra (currently FT1 concept form) says that it will likely be competing with the C7 in segment, performance, and price. Since we dont know exact performance and price yet, what about styling? How would this compare to the C7 if it came out like this?
For reference, current FT1 concept from this weeks' LA auto show from Supramkv

I really doubt it would be that radical, although I have no doubt it will be fast and handle well - maybe not up to the C7 level, but much more reliable, over the long run.

I like this version (grey) much better than the red one at the Detroit Motor Show. Similar to the C7 (and so many other current cars), there's a lot going on with the design, and the darker color tends to smooth things out.
It will be interesting to see (if Toyota does bring it out) whether they'll go after the C7/GT-R market, or if they'll bring it out as a true sucessor to the Supra. If it's aimed at more expensive end of the spectrum, I could see them staying pretty close to the concept. If it's a Supra, it should be an affordable sports car - it'd have to be toned down a bit to keep manufacturing costs lower.
I didn't get to go to LA this year for the show. I'm guessing it looks much better in person than in pics.

The reliability depends on if it gets turbos too probably tho? I'd take NA over turbo for reliability any day.

I don't know if that's going to fly with consumers. It's unlikely to beat the C7 on paper and as a value so it better have something else going for it like better styling or reliability.

The Japanese have been integrating reliable turbos in their vehicles for decades. My 89 Mazda MX6 GT was a great example. Subaru's WRX is another good example. I have no doubt that Toyota will not release a turbo car until it is thoroughly tested.
