Correctly aligned body panels is not important to today's American cars.

I have yet to see a C7 where the lower front bottom of the doors lined up with the body. They are all half inch inside.

But that kind of quality is old school. Does not apply today.

That is how C7's are built per GM Document ID: 3657325:
The front top of the rocker molding is designed to be outboard of the bottom of the front lower door by approximately 13 mm. This is a design feature and does not require adjustment.
