Default Tell me about Cadillac SRX's

Wife is kind of the mood for another SUV, her trusty 02 Trailblazer has been a good one and still runs great (130K) but getting time to replace it

Personally I like a full size SUV (Tahoe/Suburban) but she does not and this will be her DD

We normally do not buy new but will get the 2/3 yr old cars even though we did buy the Trailblazer brand new

She really likes the Cadillac SRX's

Anyone here got pros/cons about them.

I am assuming we will be looking at 2011-2012 yr models

Did have one of my clients that is a used car dealer tell me to stay away from the V8's (did not know they put a V8 in them)

My Dad bought a 04 a couple years ago...100k mi, pearl white, chrome 22" wheels(and he's 81 yrs old) Rides and drives well, comfortable too. I drove him to his doctor's appointment last week and I kinda like it. Year or so ago he took it to the local GM dealer for the SE light. They called and told him the camshaft was bad, it was about to blow up, the engine needed rebuilt but it would be cheaper to replace as they were problematic(Northstar)...$8000. It worried the crap out of him, and I told him to go get it out of there NOW. It does have a little bottom end clatter, but no worse than my LS powered truck. I changed the oil and added some Lucas treatment, and it quieted down a bit. Sent him to an indie shop who diagnosed his SE lamp problems as a bad coil pack and chased down some rotten vacuum hoses. It does just fine now. Only other problem has been a bad ballast in one headlamp.

Only the first gens had a V8 so no worries in the model years you are looking at...you don't want the 3 liter...get the 3.6...

We had a black V6 SRX. A fantastic SUV for the first few years.
The timing belt went and the motor was toast. After an $8k repair I sold it. I couldn't handle another expense like that.
If I were to buy another, it would definitely be the V8 model.

Except the SRX has nothing in common with those...

Default Run form this

I will tell you about my wifes ...SEE WOULD NOT GET BEHIND THE WHEEL ANY MORE ..
She is a very good driver and has never in 40+ years of driving had a ticket or an accident . We mostly drove full size Bazers,Yukon , Edie Bauer Broncos and a couple of small ones. Even had a loaded full size Jeep one time ..
This SRX on dry roads " came out from under her 3 times''...no warning no skid no locked brakes and around she went 3 different times on her way to work ..ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE WAS HEADING HOME))The last time I had it towed straight to the dealer ,as we did before. We were told everything from trailing arm out of adjustment ..THERE IS NO ADJUSTER ON THAT CAR. Tires were not matched ...They come with two separate sizes from the factory ,to help tracking , does not work ..
21/2 years old paid as much as my 2005 vette new $50 large...got out of it at another dealer cause(((( the fxxkin azzhats threw me out))))for $13,400.00...BAAAAANKS Chevrolet AND CADILLAC CONCORD N.H.

I was given one for about a week loaner from Cadillac, Interior was nice my wife liked it but she bought the new 2015 Mercedes GLA Which she likes better. The gas mileage on the MB was much better. Go drive one.

I have a 2012 AWD and have enjoyed it. I only wish it had a bit more storage in the back when the seats are not down. The 2012's came with the 3.6L V6 with 308 HP. Send me a PM if you have any specific questions.

Parents have a '11 I believe with the 3L V6. It was the year before the 3.6 V6 came out. Even with the less powerful engine, it's not that bad and in general it's a comfortable car. I prefer our Acadia for space and hauling, but the Cadillac feels a little more refined.
