3.5 Ecoboost V6 - so I take back what I said about competing against P1. Not gonna happen.

Honestly a bit disappointed they are going with such a small motor. Why would they develop a one-off motor for the GT350 and not re-use that in their top-of-the-line performance car?

I know the GT-R makes tons of power from only 3.8 liters but I am very curious if this Ford motor is as stout as the VR38DETT. I also want to see the turbo specifications.

True that. But also consider that Ford GT's are now worth about twice as much as they were new.

After seeing the update from jalopnik, I am now thinking over $200,000, lightweight supercars are expensive.

"The body features liberal amounts of carbon fiber and more advanced lightweight composites, so Ford promises it will "exhibit one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car."

They also say it has an F1-style steering wheel and a paddle-shift gearbox, plus upward swinging doors.

Yup, this is going to change the game!!!! Push rod suspension just like F1 and Indycar. Aero blades to direct air flow like Ferrari does with the F12 only more radical. They will sell every single one of these at huge up charges.

I think the price will be over 300K for the new GT. Lots of carbon fiber, DCT, and limited production will make it very expensive. I think it looks great.

I think ford hit 3 solid home runs at the Detroit show so far.

GT is awesome looks. DCT, Lightweight, twin turbo, 600+hp, killer styling. Love it.

GT350R, first production car with CARBON Wheels. Light weight, big power, great style.

New Raptor is awesome too. Twin turbo, 10 speed tranny, more suspension travel, beefed up.

I predict a bunch of chevy people switching up the argument they have been using on the ZL1/etc now that the z06/etc make more power than the GT. When the ZL1 was lower HP than the GT500/Hellcat/etc it is no big dealer because of the suspension, lighter, etc, but now that the FGT is like that I bet you hear the exact opposite arguments.

Amazing.

The first Jalopnik renderings generate more interest than the renderings of the C7 just over a year ago.

And look Mom, it's got round tail lights!!

Definitely a sweet looking ride!!

What renderings?

I think this has got to be THE greatest job of keeping a car under wraps in HISTORY. There were NO leaks, NO information, until this morning.

Jimmy

PS. The C7 renderings were well over 2 years ago (the C7 was intro'd in January 2013 at this same show)

No leaks? I knew 3 months ago they had this coming. No info besides high end rear engine super car but there was some info and idea it was coming. Hell Jalop last week posted the autoshow floor map with project "phoenix" right in the middle surrounded by the GT350 and Raptor so I wouldn't say no info until today.

Looks like ford is better at keeping things under wrap than GM though.

I would say that "you knew it was coming" is hardly newsworthy. No one knew or could even guess at any of the specs....good for Jalopnik posting a "map"...how is that "information"?

I guess we'll agree to disagree. Kudos to Ford for keeping this so well hidden.

Nice evolution of the old GT.. 600HP from the V6 Turbo. Torque should be in 650 range. Only thing I think looks weak are the headlights. Other than that... damn nice. Still think the Stingray and Z06 look sexier. Chevy needs to still counter with Zora.. for the sake of argument. I'd prefer the Zora be a Cadillac instead tho.

Amen. And no Aston Martin grill, thank goodness.

They're using the TTV6 for brand continuity and the regulations for LeMans racing. I wish it had a NA flat plane V8 though. I'd bet a strung out NA V8 would weigh less than the V6, turbos, and associated plumbing.

Based on a limited supply, small run like the 05-06 and the crazy prices they have risen to ..... The average well off guy with $250k to spend will NOT even have a chance to buy this car if it comes out.

If you thought the market adjustment on some Z06s was crazy this will be insane.

They will all be sold before they are built and with the celebrity, high end car guy players, the average well off Joe will be SOL..

Hope not, but just a prediction.

Will be interesting to see what Ford does with it. If they do the 1000-1200 cars a year, or if they go build as many as ordered.

I agree, pricing will come in at over 300K IMHO and if it does have an MSRP of 250K, the demand for it will only push up the price anyway.
