Default Ford GT Purchase

For what its worth. Talked with some Ford dealers this morning about putting a deposit down on a 2016 Ford GT. One of the dealers I do quite a bit of business with for my work trucks. The dealers will not take a deposit. Looks like the same situation I was in back in 2005. Pretty frustrating.

In 2005 I was first on the list with a large dealer for a GT at MSRP. Would not honor agreement and sold the car to someone else at a higher than MSRP price.

FYI: The GT is a 2017MY. The production starts late 2016. That's about 2 years from now before you can see it in the showroom.

Get this crap out of the Z06 section. And you might want to go post on a ford forum.

This post is just lacking some context.

I think the OP is attempting to draw a parallel between the Z06 ordering process and the Ford ordering process. (complimenting the Z06 process).

Perhaps had the title been "ordering a Ford GT vs. Z06" the context would have been better understood.

That said... You guys could be nicer.

Maybe suggesting this belongs in the "other cars" area would have been enough.

Who'd want to put money down on a V-6 sports car anyway?

Nissan GTR

Unless you don't consider that a sports car because it has usable rear seats..............

The Ford GT is a true exotic supercar , not a sports car, it's twin turbo V6 will be a game changer, the car will also sticker at least 250k, I'm guessing more.

No it won't. What is the fascination with a v6? Ford is going to rue the day it decided to go with these high stressed small engines. They will take huge hits in the resale dept once mileage is accumulated. They get the same or less fuel mileage and struggle to make v8 power...It must be my ignorance keeping me from seeing what is so special. How is that for an opening. lol

911 Turbo runs an impressive 6, although not a "V". Personally, I prefer the sound of an 8.

I, too, have checked with some Ford dealers and no one is ready to take a deposit. I already placed a deposit on the ZR1/Zora about a year ago, and am contemplating whether I also want to add either a FGT or NSX to my stable, which also includes a new Z07. It's a fun time to be a car guy, with prices being so cheap for the level of performance you receive.

Don't you just love the anonymity of the internet?

If we were all sitting in a room together, face to face, within arms reach, this thread/conversation would have gone like this:

OP: "Went to put a deposit down on a 2016 Ford GT. They aren't taking deposits. I'd hate to order one then have it sold out from under me by someone willing to pay a higher price the MSRP."

Us: "Really? That sucks. Good luck, man."

End of conversation. :-)

Pretty bad opening , and I will also excuse your ignorance with the statement that a ford GT will take a hit in resale

I agree that the name "ecoboost" sounds sissified but the motor is anything but a wimp.

I have their 365 HP standard version in a SHO that gets 24MPG at 80MPH in a 4500 pound car. For about $3500 you can purchase a tune from Blue Oval with intake and exhaust changes done at a Ford dealer that raises the power to 425 HP and still have some warranty left (there is some fine print regarding racing)

600 HP plus versions of these motors have been around for several years now and are doing very well for holding power and holding up.

BTW, I would not have this car if the Chevy dealer had not been so rude and arrogant when I went to them first to get one of the new LS3 Impala SS cars
