Moved? Are you kidding? This forum is becoming a joke. C7Z threads moved to other cars. Just go ahead and name it "Corvette wave, wax, cruise in and anything other than performance regarding the C7Z" subforum.

It's nice never having to look in the C7 forums. All the interesting threads end up here.

I agree !! but don't worry, if it does well, mods will move it into the Z06 section, IF it doesn't, well, we'll read it here.

Joke is right

You guys are missing out on all the really exciting threads in the C7 Z06 section - multiple threads on clear bras, wax and new floor mats - the thread where Tadge references Nurburgring - not with track times - but the phrase "Do the Math" gets my heart racing. I personally can't wait to find out who makes the highest performing car cover. Good times.

No one buys a high performance car to see how it compares to other high performance cars - that is silly. Corvettes exist in a vacuum and is the only sports car on Earth!

MT just tracked the 650S and it did 1:25:88.

Straight line top speed was 157 mph.

1:25 is insanely fast. Last test I saw a ZR1 run 1:29 but not sure what tires it had, and I manager a 1:30 on ps cup 2. But to my knowledge the Cup1 is gripper and the trofeo tire as well. Both those have 80 treadwear for cup 2 has 180.

Best I hit there was 152 on the straight in my 10 ZR1 My lap time suffered as I got the wrong size tires and had tons of rubbing. Only ran the track once in this car. So hopefully when I fix everything I'll do better

Yeah is pretty fast, but if the Z06 is faster in the corners there is a good chance it could beat that time. I see a lot of steady cornering in this track and the Z06 grip in this types of corners is huge.

Z06 should have a great lap time in it. We will see what Randy does soon. It certainly has the advantage in braking and cornering speed.

Motor Trend

Z06
BRAKING 60-0 MPH - 91 ft
LATERAL ACCELERATION - 1.16 g (avg)
MT FIGURE EIGHT - 22.5 sec

650S
BRAKING 60-0 MPH - 105 ft
LATERAL ACCELERATION - 1.05 g (avg)
MT FIGURE EIGHT - 23.1 sec

In all seriousness - this is very strange. As the "other" section is in the OFF TOPIC section, this forum is stating that a legal, unbiased magazine comparison of a C7 Z06 with two of its competitors - one literally its most direct competition - is off topic.

I have honestly not seen this on almost any other forum and they are also making money through advertising.

The ZR1 time was done years ago (2011) on the PS2 tires during a comparison test with the 911 Turbo.

There is a big misconception that the Cup 1 tire has more grip than the Cup 2 tire, this is completlely false. While the Cup2 tire does have a higher threadwear rating than the Cup 1 it also has better grip. It has been proven to improve lap times by 1.5 - 2 sec over the Cup 1 tires on +2 mile road courses. The point of the Cup 2 was to make a tire with more grip and better treadwear.

That's what it says but I was with my friend and we tested them back to back and ran seconds faster on his cup 1 tires than his cup 2. This is on a Z06 racecar.

It's been gone over repeatedly. It was an extreme measure to fix the straight line idiots who took over the Z06 section with their less than forthright "tests" and "evidence". It has worked. When the idiots leave entirely, it will change back.

Same exact sizes? There have been other private tests that show different. Tadge himself said that one of the reasons that the new Z06 was so fast out of the box was the new Cup2 tires. It is pretty apparent in the skid pad numbers the new Z06 is getting. The increased downforce usually does little at skid pad test speeds. I have been running the cup 1 tires on my ZR1 at the track but may try a set of take off cup 2s.

I tried going up in width and didn't see the sidewall number. Tire is too tall. ;(

Yes those Cup2 tires are the real deal. Any vehicle that isn't running them or Trofeo R's will be at a multiple second disadvantage on the track.
