New Competition? The $84,600 Porsche Cayman GT4
#21
There are a lot of great cars currently on the market. I currently own a Porsche 981CS and '15 Stingray and previously had a 2011 ZR1. For the narrow minded, there is more to a great sports car than just big horsepower. A small light weight mid-engine car with good HP is a great combination. The new GT4 and Z06 are both fun cars for anyone who loves performance cars. My next upgrade will a tough choice.

I have a feeling that, given that I will track the car at least a dozen times per year, over time the GT4 will prove less costly to run. Brakes and tires should last a lot longer due to lower weight and lower end of straight speed, while being about as fast on short momentum tracks (Lime Rock) and nearly as fast on some of the longer ones. And that engine (in that state of tune - 385HP-ish) is bullet proof - if you can get drone refueling it will run all day.
A V8 is awesome, but so is the sweet handling of the Cayman (any version).

Pretty nice car with performance on par with a C5 ZO6 but in a Porsche
How easy the motor can be bumped up to 425-450 without compromising reliability and still having a manual might swing some 911 buyers

i dont understand this kind of attitude. It is around the same price point.. i think people who consider the z06 would want to know about this car. The question is how many.. i am guessing a lot, but i admit i could be wrong. In any case, being rude, close minded and unfriendly to someone who was trying to post useful information leaves a bad taste.
There's more than one way to skin a cat.
One thing I will say is that if you want to make $$$ on a car, this Cayman is a sure bet. Porsche guys bid up the prices of these track car models. Look at the '70s Carrera models.

Seems like this forum is NOT filled with car enthusiast but close minded corvette only people. Like a angry mob.
A beautiful machine that I'd bet is a phenomenal drive on the track. I've driven a cayman S and it's a blast. So nimble. Front end goes where you like.

I like the Cayman, and would certainly be a buyer - but, in spite of its balance and handling, I wouldn't buy until it gets at least 150 more horsepower and an automated tranny.

Why more power? That car weighs around 3000 lbs and very efficient with its tech. Power to weight...
