Default New Audi R8 - Official

Looks nice.

From the article:
An updated 5.2-litre V10 engine, available with two outputs, will be the only choice during the launch. The first version makes 540hp and 540 Nm (398.3 lb-ft) of torque while the V10 Plus scores a very healthy 610hp and 560 Nm (413.0 lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 62mph (0-100km/h) in 3.2 seconds, 0-124mph (0-200km/h) in 9.9 seconds and it will keep going until it reaches 205mph-330km/h. The 540hp version sprints to 62mph from standstill in 3.5 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 201mph (323km/h).

Nice article, thanks for posting.

I read these things and I think: "Damn but the GT-R was a hell of a long way ahead of its time." Here's the next gen R8 with a 600hp motor and the straight line time to 60 is still slower than the GT-R. I mean I'm sure the R8 will be lovely but who would have though Nissan (Nissan?) would have produced something so far ahead of its time.

I had a Nissan GTR that ran high 10's with tune and midpipe and my friend had a R8 that ran high 11's.the difference between these cars is the Nissan was a performance monster but the R8 had so much quality in the interior and you could daily drive a R8 with its plush ride vs the GTR was a race car on the street and the Wife/Girlfriend did not like it much due to the harsh ride and noises of the GTR.

I really don't like what they've done to the exterior. The interior isn't great, but the exterior looks like a bloated TT. It has lost the supercar look. That's a big let down.

For the same money the Acura NSX is better.

Does look like a larger TT, but then again that's Audi's styling. Small, medium or large with the same look.

Love the R8 but that looks more like a mid-cycle refresh than a new version, and at a glance it doesn't seem to be an improvement.

All-Electric Audi R8 e-tron - Official

from the press release:
The R8 e-tron achieves an electric range of approximately 280 miles - a considerable improvement over the technology platform’s 133 miles - with an energy density that has been increased from 84 Wh/kg to 154 Wh/kg and some other modifications to the car. The electrically powered high-performance sports car has the Combined Charging System (CCS) on board, which allows charging with direct and alternating current. Using this system, it is possible to fully charge the battery in significantly less than two hours.

The power is now 462PS and the maximum torque 920Nm. The R8 e-tron 2.0 accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds on its way to an electronically restricted top speed of 130mph or 155mph. Intelligent energy management and an electromechanical brake system enable high energy recuperation rates. Targeted torque vectoring – needs-based distribution of power transmission between the rear wheels – ensures maximum stability and dynamism.

I'm probably a 2016 or 2017 shopper so I'm looking forward to more specifics on the NSX. Everything is pretty vague so far. Analogous to the C7 Z06 this time last year.

But hybrid seems like it is the next frontier in the performance envelope.

I prefer the previous gen R8's looks to this one. It's hard to improve on this:
