By the way, your right rear tire needs air.

I guess I should now go buy new spark plugs. Car still won't start even with starting fluid.

Btw this tahoe has 198,000 miles. It's a z71 4wd. It has onstar and everything. Fully loaded. Sunroof, leather, has a little system in it. 6 inch lift. 35 inch tires. I knew it needed a little work.

I traded a 328i bmw and 1000 cash for it.

The bmw has 205,000 miles. I had gotten it because I had bought a Range Rover for 800$ that the guy said needed a head gasket and I bought some blue devil and fixed it. Then traded.

The Vette is good. I got a blue hood for 150$ and a silver bumper for 150$. I May plasti dip the car but I'll probably just get it painted white.

Like I said the Tahoe was running fairly well. I kinda knew what I was getting into. But I've wanted one like this for a while. It'll easily be worth 10k after I fix it or put a motor in it.
Dude, stick to your day job (or get a diploma in your case). You have absolutely no business opening a hood to do anything other than chexk the windshield washer fluid.

That was pretty damn funny.

A lot of the Off Topic faithful, where you posted a mirror thread, offered some really helpful information. Why don't you pop in and say thanks?

Mine will run soon. Still can't get it though.

That one is 2wd. With a leveling kit.

Mine is 6 inch lift and 4x4. I want another 3 inch body lift soon after I get it running

Not too far off? It's $3000 cheaper. And apparently 2wd with only a leveling lift, going for the "Carolina slump"!

Have you thought about parting it out? You might get most of your money back.

The strange part is the z71 he mentioned. If its a z71 it has to be 4wd. Its part of the package. So its either a z71 or not. If its not a z71 its not worth anything more than a bottom of the line Tahoe.

That's what I used to think but I've seen 2wd Silverado's with the Z71 package, go figure but they are out there.

But war was talking about the $7000 one being 2wd, and I don't see that one listed as a Z71.

Went and looked and it seems for some screwball reason gm allowed the z71 in 2wd from 1999 on. Weird. Last gm 4wd I had was a 98 so Ive been out of them since then.

That engine is tired. Have you run a leak down test on it ? Good used 5.3's are abundant and cheap. I would start with that route.

I am at a loss...

I recently purchased a 2002 z71 lifted Tahoe. I say purchased but I really traded. I've always wanted one... I'm only in this one 1800$ right now

I knew it had some issues, but I figured it would be awesome once I got it running right. So I went ahead and traded. I then drove it an hour home, and it drove ok. ( we traded at night btw)

The next day I went to start it... And then I see huge amounts of white smoke pouring out... So I start thinking head gasket...

I go and buy the 65$ blue devil stuff and radiator flush. I then follow instructions and do it. I then see that I have wasted my money because it is still smoking like crazy. But it only does this on acceleration.

So I do more research. I decide I'm going to look at my air box, so I take it off and there's practically a f***** bird nest in there. I then take off the air duct to see my throttle body has a puddle of oil in it. I do more research and decide that I'm gonna check out my intake manifold gasket. So I do that... And look what i find...
Is that mud on the engine? Was this a flood car?

Good thing is 5.3's are a dime a dozen these days, since it's been the most popular v8 for GM's trucks & suv's for the last 10+ yrs. around here you can pick up a complete low mile motor for like $500. In your neck of the woods that's like $20 or less.
