When Ford's global performance vehicle chief engineer Jamal Hameedi started to tell us how his team was targeting "the best power-to-weight ratio," we figured the sentence would end with "in its class." Nope. Hameedi instead capped off the claim with "of any car on the market." Ford has yet to reveal the GT's weight, but we're expecting it to be crazy light. As for the engine, Ford promises more than 600 horsepower.

Personally I would rather have the flat V8 making 650 or so without the turbos......... especially if they are planning to get well below 3000#.
Even using a carbon tub and body along with aluminum and titanium for the suspension as well as the other necessary parts needed to make a car street legal can only shed so much weight......... a race car would be a different story

The engine going into the new FGT isn't an ecoboost pulled from a Taurus. It will be a full race motor, slightly detuned, for street use. And it's a necessary evil to run in their class at Le Mans. I'm sure if it weren't mandated, there would be no street car version. As it stands, it will be a 2 year run of 250 cars per year(world wide) which will sell for BIG bucks and very quickly.

I originally thought it would have the five liter flat plane crank v8 turbocharged but the twin turbo v6 will be awesome all the same. Crazy pricing yet I'm sure they will sell out.
Wonder if ford will make any money on these or are they just for brand elevation and recognition?
