4 Door vette...Any former or current Pontiac G8 owners?

I've always liked Pontiacs but I'd never compare any of them to a Corvette in any way. I had this 2000 Daytona 500 GP for 10 years before I traded it for the C6. It was one of 2000 made. This was the last picture of I took of it at the Carmax dealer.

i've had the much discussed G8 (#212 of the first 888) as well as the TBSS (from new in '06)
and even though both were mid 11 second rides, NEITHER reminded me of my '08 C6 lol on any level.
here's a video of my G8 (a stroked 402 but otherwise completely stock including trans and rear) vs the OTHER "4 dr corvette" (lol) a 96 impala SS with an LS3, trans, rear etc.
(click on the pic below for vid)
this was the G8
Nice cars but not a vette.

I would not consider the G8 a pig. The G8 actually handles great for its weight. It weighs less then a gen 2 CTS-V and has a ton more interior space. I would call it more a 4 door camaro then a corvette since they are built on the same platform. I still want to try out the 15 SS since they added the manual and magnetic ride.

From a Power to weight ratio the GTO has the edge but barely...: G8 430/4000= .1075 , GTO 400/3700 = .1081
If the GTO weighted 4000 pounds but maintained its ratio, it would have had 432 HP , and if the G8 maintained its ratio above and weighted 3700 hp it would have 397 HP ....so you can see they are pretty much even..

Street races prove nothing ...too many variables, poor driving skills, cops, road conditions etc etc. At least in a professional magazine they contain the variables, and produce comparable results and the GTO is more than equal. 3700 LBS GTO versus 4000 G8...400 HP GTO 430 G8...most tests I read show them very close.

A G8 wanted to race me the other day. Didn't know how I could win. If I won all I did was beat a four door sedan. If I lost I got beaten by a four door sedan. If the cops were around I lost my license for racing a four door sedan.

G8 GXP is 415 hp. What helps the manual GXP is the 3.70 rear end, GTO has a 3.46. Best runs I have had in the GXP with it totally stock and nothing removed from the car were 3 runs in the 12.9x with ~2.0 60fts. Without perfect conditions and track prep the GXP is a low 13 sec car.

Folks need to relax a bit, it's all about fun and it's all in the GM family.
2009 GXP M6, Red Guts, SunRoof, Holden Badged. It made many folks wonder what it was. Was it better than my C5Z06, sure as a daily driver with a child seat in the back, as a track/weekend car, no. But it would out run any BMW 5 series of the same vintage at half the price.
At cars & coffee or at a cruise night it always stopped people in their tracks seeing an LS3 Corvette motor in a sedan that no one really knew existed.
Fun car and I miss it, looking to get a Chevy SS with a manual in the Spring.

sold my 09.5 g8 GT so I could obtain my 04z06 easier. Swapped all mods back to stock, sold for cash, bought a used 1 owner 2000 CRV SE, and then my Z06. G8 was good I just knew in the end I always wanted a z06 so stopped modding the g8. Plus no one else really rode in it much but my 6yr old boy but he really loves the z06 now

There were no Pontiac arrow badges on the exterior of the car at all. The rear was replaced with an OEM Holden badge, as were the center caps on the OEM wheels. The front Pontiac arrow emblem had two guide holes drilled in the facia, so to replace that you needed a whole new fascia. So I had a emblem made similar in size to the Pontiac arrow, yet is had the Holden loin emblem on it.
And I wanted to add a bit of Corvette flair to the engine bay with the covers. It was a real fun car to drive and show.
