I think it would be close. Would be a pretty good showing for the Viper IMO being like 1/3rd the cost.

The new GT though of course is a pretty special beast.

A good race where? On the 'Ring?
Too late for that...on the road or strip, who cares...neither are made for that.

Maybe on Laguna Seca or Spa!

My money is on the Dodge

TGUK did a faster lap in the C7 than in the GT, what that means I have no idea, I'm just sayin'.

Default Viper ACR Extreme available for order Thursday

Just got a call from a Dodge dealer in Las Vegas. The 2016 Viper ACR WITH the Extreme Aero Package (bigger wing, bigger splitter, fender vents, and diffuser) will be available for order this Thursday. You could order the base ACR a few weeks ago, but the "Extreme" package was not available then. Still won't be built until Oct. Looks like the Extreme option will be close to $8K on top of the $119+K ACR base price (plus GG and destination charge). I'll find out what the "out the door" price will be next week. I'm expecting a little dealer mark-up for the early cars, but if history repeats itself it won't take long for the price to come back down.

As an aside, despite the $2.2M price differential, the Viper shares some aero design concepts with the Aston Martin Vulcan - kind-of.

Some cars you buy for Cars and Coffee, some you buy for function. If you want maximum downforce with the least drag, you end up with a big wing working in concert with a well designed diffuser (not the poser, non-functional bolt-on pieces). The only guy who really has to look at it is the guy behind you on the racetrack. The Vulcan isn't even street legal. That's part of GM's problem with the C7 Z06 - they tried to build a single car to satisfy too many diverse customer requirements (the waxer, the DD cruiser, and the racer). They were better off (although probably not more profitable) with a Grand Sport, Z06, and ZR1 with different purposes for different folks. At least Dodge concedes that the ACR is a no-compromise track car that can be street driven.

Unless dodge really screwed up, ACR should have no problems dominating the race tracks against anything out there.

Not that I care about road racing, but the ACR was just tested, it's reviews are already up, I'm surprised nobody posted them here.
It is supposed to be ridiculously fast on a track.
They estimated it to be 7 seconds faster on a track than the Viper TA.

Rear wing looks functional and nice on a track but would look a tad goofy pulling up to me at a stoplight or in LA traffic.

I wouldn't underestimate the GT just yet. I think it will be a very LIGHT car with lots of aerodynamics working for it.

You make a good point. The ACR is heavier than I like at over 3300#. Something closer to 3000# would definitely have a shot at being quicker.

I don't like huge wings either, I don't care what car it is on, but looks are simply ones own personal opinion.

I loved the looks of the later c4's(my favorite is the 96 grand sport) C5 Z, any wide body C6(even though I wasn't crazy about the window in my ZR1) , but will never like the looks of any C7, the rear end IMO is ugly as sin.
