Shelby CSX 4000/6000 - 427 S/C Continuation Series Cobra
What is the market for these? Or is there even a market? Anyone know?
In 1966 Shelby American (S.A.), then in Los Angeles CA, debuted the 427 S/C (S=street, C=Competition).
In 1997 S.A. resumed production of the Cobra 427 S/C calling them CSX 4000 - 427 S/C Continuation Series. Using the CSX 4000 series Ser#'s (and later 6000), w/1966 Manufacturers Statement of Origin, the rolling chassis were available w/either hand formed aluminum (as they were in the day) or hand laid fiberglass body. The cost of aluminum was almost double...163K base vs 90K base starting out (most recent prices I found by one source & 155/90 by another source). Shelby American based in Las Vegas builds these authentic Continuation Cobras.
I found an interesting post by member CSX 1013 dated 5 Mar 2015 @ TeamShelby.com in which he states - "Pertaining to CSX 4000, approx 650 have been produced w/200 in aluminum, 10 in carbon fiber, and the rest in fiberglass. Of the CSX 6000, just over 100 so far w/2 aluminum, rest in glass."
This new Cobra boasted the world's first computer designed chassis w/4-wheel Coil-over Independent Suspension. 0-60 4 seconds & sub 12 in 1/4 mile. Fully documented 1966 Chassis and titled as a 1966 Shelby American Cobra. Not a kit car, but a continuation of the original 1966 Shelby Cobra. Twenty something improvements were made to up-date the original 1966. Many options became available. btw: an "original" (not the continuation) 427 Cobra's beginning in 1966 are in the 1M+ range these days. One should be aware of Shelby American Knock-off's in circulation, which are worthless IMOP.
In a nutshell, the order prices appear to be aligned with the C7Z, as long as you're not talking the optional aluminum body. In which case the alum body price may be in competition with the pending mid-engine Vette, if there is a mid engine Vette pending.
So again, here is the QUESTION...
Is there a decent market for these Continuation Cobra's titled as a 1966 Shelby American Cobra and if so, what are the market prices on say a fiberglass body 1966 used 427 Shelby American Cobra? Your opinion is welcome.

Melting Slicks
I have a friend with an aluminum bodied one. He's thinking of selling it, but does not know how to price it other than not cheap.
He is pictured with Carol at the time of purchase and title transfer.
I spoke with him, he estimates a fiberglass model would bring between $75k to $85K. Only a guess based on other sales past.
