STUTTGART'S STUDENT-LED GREENTEAM CLOCKS A 1.779 AT
People have a lot of gripes about electric cars...But one thing we can all agree on is that they’re fast. Any Tesla owner with "ludicrous mode" will tell you that.
Students from the University of Stuttgart furthered that point this week by setting a new (unofficial) EV world record for the 0-100-km/h sprint.
The 1.779 seconds in a proper two-way run. The previous record, owned by students in Zurich, was at 1.785 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive, open-wheel record setter has a 134-hp electric motor with a 6.62-kwh battery pack. It weighs in at just 352.7 pounds, leading to a power-to-weight ratio of 2.63 pounds per horse. That’s better than both the Bugatti Veyron andPorsche 918 Spyder.

My 3550# Buick does it in 2.2 seconds, slower, but, on pump gas with methanol injection. Gets 20+ mpg and can drive 850 miles, race for 3 days straight, then drive it 850 miles back home.
