Default Need some opinions for a daily

Hello all!!

Currently driving a 2014 Cruze LTZ RS as a daily, with the C5 in the garage. But lets be honest, the thing is a little boring. So I want to get something manual and a bit more fun.

As some of you know, I had a 2012 WRX hatch and I loved it but of course got rid of it after the accident.

So I'd like to keep these characteristics in mind:

-the budget below 28K
-AWD or RWD > FWD
-hatch or sedan, not really looking for another coupe, but open minded
-4cyl turbo > V8 > V6

Interested in the Focus RS but cant justify 40K for a Focus, and like the 2016 WRX but then again I feel like that's too little for what I pay for. Also thought about the Focus ST but not too inclined about FWD.

So can some of you throw options/pictures please.

Thanks

I love the SS, and seriously considering it, but was out of budget.
Which WRX you thinking?
Used bmw maintainence $$$??
G37s are actually good looking but I feel like it would get old quick.

Just got rid of a Focus ST to get something bigger and to get away from a manual in stop and go traffic. It was a tight, problem-free car in the 2 years I owned it, but they DO have quite a few nannies in place to try to combat the torque steer. It works pretty well, but you have to be sure which way you're headed before you hammer it, otherwise it's really hard to correct direction under full throttle. Other than that little "feature", it's a great car to toss around.

How did you like it? I am very interested in it but the FWD and the sound of it just doesn't do it for me.
...Maybe I haven't heard enough of them.

Have you considered an early 2000's M3?

There are very few things not to like about the ST. If you're a big guy, you might not like the confining Recaro's, but they are well built and hold you snug in the turns. The turning radius is HUGE because of the large footprint tires (my new Jeep GC is much more maneuverable), and you need to remove the rear headrests to fold down the back seat. The exhaust is VERY quiet, as they developed it as a global car and European sound regs are much stricter than ours. Plenty of aftermarket options available to cure that, however - Cobb is a big name (they were well-established in the WRX/STi market, and got into the ST world in Europe before it was introduced here).

I really did like driving this car, and probably would have kept it a while longer if I didn't need more room and got tired of driving the stick shift in stop and go traffic. The headlights (HID's) were great, the engine loved to rev (pretty short gearing), I had few problems with the Sync system (the nav wasn't all that accurate, however), and never had a quality problem or rattle in 2 years.

E46 M3 is a great car.

Also, you can buy a Z3M coupe, drive and sell for a profit.

Aside from VANOS, maintenance is nothing outside of normal.
Already looking for another STI like what I had. Love the E46 M3 but looking for something newer, 4 door, and 4cyl boosted.

Sounds decent. Just need to make sure I get an ST3 if I were to get one based on commodities.

My past two DD have been an 09 and 13 WRX's, along with a Camry that I put the dog in. WRX's are fun little cars, but I'll probably try something else next. I might switch back to an Audi S4 or try the S3. If I lived in Florida I wouldn't consider any of those, I'd probably be driving a G8, or CTS-V. I hate the snow and the cold, but driving a WRX or S4 on winter tires in the snow when nobody else is on the road ALMOST makes winters worth it.

Drive any car you're even considering getting, and have fun with it. I never thought I would own a WRX, didn't seem like a lot of people who drove them. It was on the bottom of the list of about 10 cars I was comparing, but just test driving it sold me. So any car you even think of test drive, you never know. Good luck.

The GTI is a wonderful daily.

It has a great interior - sound system - and a lot of torque.

SS or Camaro SS? 2 different cars. I would maybe stretch the budget a little and look at the 2015 Audi A3's. Can get the with the same dual clutch auto and engine as the GTI but with awd.

Oh and I currently DD a 2013 Cruze 2LT. I like it but it is a gutless turd and doesn't get what I was expecting for fuel mileage.

Yes! I miss my WRX. I will most likely be picking up an STI hatch.

I love the SS!!! I also like the Camaro but I don't want another coupe. I mean the A3's are nice, but I'd rather an R32 for that, but I cant justify that price on that small of a car. Might as well stretch a bit more and get a used CTSv or an SS sedan.

But I'll most likely be pickin gup an STI hatch. IF ALL GOES WELL...

Nice choice - can you keep that under your budget? I've heard STi's are crazy on resale value. I would've looked at one vs. the FoST I got, but the Subie was about $10K higher.
