I hear you but I presume the majority of Corvette owners cant afford a car that's 2 or 3 times more or are smart enough not to waste their money on one. The filthy rich, yes, they can do anything they desire. Service is another reason.

Sports cars are the epitome of impracticality, the very definition of a "waste of money" and a surefire toy for the "filthy rich" to any envious individual who can't afford one. Who are you to presume what the right sports car budget is for an intelligent individual who has worked hard to acquire what he has?

Yeah and in 10 years the Z06 is worth 45k and the GT is still bringing 400k.

Who am I? Nobody. In the eyes of many in my circle of life, I am looked upon just that way because of my 6 figure vette. I'm not envious at all. I have more than I need or want. Too much stuff becomes over bearing in day to day life anyway. I don't knock anyone for buying a million dollar car.

Back to the Ford GT. Where is the car built?

"Buying a Ford GT is a waste of money, but a Corvette! Now that's a good use!"

And people wonder why Corvette owners get the reputation as douche'bags.

Not what I meant. All I meant was the cars costing 5 times more than the Corvette are no competition with respect to affordability. Yes we have a place here on this forum to talk about expensive exotics. That's great. But it's similar to me going to a Honda Civic forum and talking about $100,000 cars in the Off Topic, Other cars category.

I just smelled something disgusting. I lifted up my foot and discovered I just stepped into a warm moist pile of dog poop.

Last time I checked, anything that isn't a Corvette is included in other cars

Sorry I didn't mean for it to come out that we shouldn't be talking about these cars whatsoever. Like I said, I am nobody. I just talked some crap. Maybe the term "filthy rich" offended someone, I don't know.

I'm into high end audio/home theater also. Similar types of threads are prevalent in those forums except those forums aren't one brand based.
In that realm there are the high end components and speakers, my entire setup being in the 40K range. Then there are speakers that sell for 100K+ alone. Compontents in the 50K+ x 4 or five pieces. 2,3 hundred K. So you have these diverse groups in different levels. Lots of bickering over value and performance. That's all this is I am saying.

Time to shut up

I guess it's all speculation at this point anyways

170 mph in the 1/4 won't happen. Bike at 2.24 power to weight does 149 mph, this is at 3.54 power to weight - not going to happen !!

So the new GT is a purpose built $400K car from Ford. I think it's a great looking car and will be fast. However, given that it is a purpose built car for the Le Mans, what if they get their A$$es handed to them by the Corvette guys? Does anyone think the value of the GT will plummet because it failed it's mission? Or will the value remain the same because no one really cares and it's all about having the new and exclusive thing.

Only 1000 being produced over 4 years at $400K each. This is a car to talk about... that's about it.

"The upcoming 2017 Ford GT will have a curb weight of “around 2,890 lbs”, and will be priced at $397,500. You can also expect Ford to produce only 1,000 Ford GT’s total, some 250 units of a four year span."

I'm really trying to like the new GT...

...but I don't.

The previous generation is still the looker of the bunch.
