Default A great comparison we may never get to see

Love to see a comparison of the new Ford GT to a C7 Z06/Z07, some track times, 1/4 miles and other metrics. I do love the looks of the new GT but you could of course get 4 Z07's for that price. Of course you would not have anywhere near the exclusiveness of the GT and maybe that's what is all about. Anyway you can go configure a GT online as of today, this is what mine would look like.

By the way you can't just buy one, you may fill out an application to be excepted to buy one
"Ford GT Application Overview

The Ford GT is the pinnacle of exhilarating aerodynamics, light weighting and EcoBoost® performance. Because 2017 and 2018 Ford GTs will be available in very limited quantities, Ford anticipates that there will be more potential purchasers than available Ford GTs. Ford is conducting this application process to identify from a host of deserving candidates those individuals who will be invited to discuss a potential Ford GT purchase. Completing an application does not guarantee that you will have the opportunity to purchase a Ford GT.

For full details and restrictions, please review the Ford GT Application Terms and Conditions"

Lol, all the buyers are already selected. You may get lucky and find one sitting in a dealer showroom at $200,000 over MSRP.

Even if you could buy one, would you want to drive it or keep it locked up for future auction value. I'm pretty sure most owners would do the later. That being said, I wouldn't want to own one, no matter how nice it does look. I'll be content seeing one at a cars and coffee event in the future. You know someone will roll up in one, or at least off load it from a flatbed. I enjoyed driving my C7 to work this morning.

It seems Ford is somehow trying to force the buyers to be drivers and not collectors, I'm not really sure how they are going to enforce that.

At $400,000+, I don't think Ford is trying to compete with Chevy with the Ford GT.

Ergo, comparisons are kinda pointless.

Of course not, the point is how well does the ZO7 compete for a 1/4 of the price?

I think this would be my choice.

The new gt will be significantly lighter, similar power and have a 7 speed dual-clutch transmission. If anybody is expecting the C7Z to compete with the 2017 GT like the C6Z did with the 05-06 GT they are being unrealistic. Now how the rumored Zora will do against the GT is the more interesting question.

Almost all the Ford GTs will go to people who won't drive them except to show off. A large portion will be bought and put into collections where they will sit (possibly untitled) in climate controlled garages.

Really a shame. I get that it's a technological tour de force and whatnot, but it also sucks. I wish they would make something smaller, cheaper, and more accessible with higher production. Something like a Cayman fighter, using a 5.0L and with a sportier model with the 5.2L flat plane crank. Start it at around $40-50k, and really shake up the market.

That's fine I just want someone to make an inexpensive Cayman fighter with a V8... and I'd rather the Coyote than the LTx since no direct injection issues.

Or they'll just sit in some dealership showroom, like a couple of Dodge Vipers I know. They become museum pieces, and people take selfies in front of them.

They will come in due time. Maybe not head to head, but lap times and quarter mile passes can be compared.

If you're looking for the best performance for the buck in the Z07 realm, might as well go ACR.

*edit*
If there is a head to head, magazine article will definitely make a comment about how good the Z07 is for the dollar, how its easier to live with on a daily basis, how it has cup holders and can fit golf bags in the back. Then it will win the comparison.

I hear you brother. After seeing that Matte Black GT, I've been seriously considering having my C7Z wrapped in Matte Black.

Id run as many miles as possible why pay all that money and not use it makes NO sense to me. This hobby is about fun for me not money

The Vettes are cool and all but come on the GT...simply badazz looking NO comparison. Like comparing a C3 and a Pantera back in the day
