Default LS package for a dragster

Interested in building an LS based engine for a dragster for bracket racing purposes. How hard is it to build 600hp at the crank from an LS1?

If your talking an actual LS1 you are going to have a difficult if not impossible time of getting over 500rwhp without artificial aspiration. I think using an LS3 setup would make your goal much more achievable.

Okay, thank you for the feed back. Next question. Is there a good source for bare blocks? (Besides buying new)
I know I can get a new one for $1000-$1400. I was hoping there would be a market for used motors. Apparently the dealership's have to send them back for factory rebuilds. All the used motors and blocks I've located via Craigslist, I may as well buy new.
