Default My McLaren 570S - 10.275 @ 135.21

I participated in a rental at Atco on 4/20 with my one month old 2016 McLaren 570S. As far as I could tell, no owner had taken theirs to the strip yet, as they have only been delivered to customers over the past two or so months. I was hoping not to be stuck in the 11s, as the last car I raced there (15 911 Turbo) ran a 10.8 @ 128. Wanted to be close to that.

Spent the morning trying to figure out how to launch the car and was having no luck. Just could not do a burnout to heat up/clean off the 285 factory Pirelli Corsa rears. Still -was running 10.7's at 133 with horrible 1.95-2.0 60's

Track worker gave me grief over not cleaning off the tires, so I just tried a launch (using launch control) from the concrete pad. Night and day difference in my race launch, as the car now hooked.

Ran a best of 10.275 @ 135.21 on a 1.672 60' time. Backed it up with a 10.422 @ 135.4 on a 1.789 60 footer. A few 10.5's and 10.6's too.

I am still surprised at how well the car ran. Only 562 HP and RWD. Lowered the rear tire pressure to 29 psi and threw $20 worth of 103 in the tank as I was burning fuel. Otherwise just as it was delivered from Woking.

Still bummed that I never made it to Atco with my 16 Z07.

I can't think of many, if any outside of the hypercars and 650/675, new and bone stock cars that are faster. Wow.

Thanks! It is supposed to weigh 2,950 - 3,000 lbs. Atco doesn't have a scale. If I get to E-town on a Wednesday night, I will weigh it. Curious myself.

Very impressive, these McLarens are definitely a little under rated. Even with the low weight, I'd say that car has to be making at least 550rwhp. I was talking to a 12C owner at the recent Slipstream 1/2 mile event and he said he has run 136mph in the 1/4 and was doing 161mph in the 1/2 mile. Crazy fast for a car rated at 620bhp, he said some were making close to that at the tires.

Congrats, awesome car! And glad to see these cars getting some use!

Enzom knows what he is doing. He was a legend back on the E55 boards. That is what the car will do in those conditions.

I'm more bummed than he is that he did not run his Z06.

Wow. Never knew the 570S could go that fast. That launch control sounds very impressive along with the incredibly low weight! My dream supercar right now is a 570S or 540. Maybe someday down the road I'll be able to pick one up used.

Glad you are enjoying the car and driving it fast OP!

I have a friend with a Top Alcohol dragster, fuel injected nitro, who runs 5.30s at 270+ all day long. So what!

This is a Z06 forum. Why do people post info about vehicles unrelated to Z06s in a Z06 forum? Not looking to get flamed. I'm just asking.

I read other vehicle forums and I've seen some threads get downright nasty when someone posts an off topic vehicle subject on them.

OP - Stout runs. Those are impressive. The Macs are nice rigs.

And I, for one, am glad you posted them up.

On one hand I agree. Its a Z06 forum and the fact that a $185k 570S is quicker than a $80k Z06 is a non-factor to Z06 enthusiasts like myself.

On the other hand.. to have a 100% stock car that is almost running 9 sec 1/4 mile times and is around the same price as a 991TTS is just nuts. I'd imagine EVERY car forum will be talking about this 10.275 @ 135mph run by a stock 570S. I can tell you right now on Rennlist (Porsche's unofficial car forum) than many 991 Turbo owners are saying their next car will be a 570S. And that Porsche's price padding has now simply priced their car outside of its market.

Is it just me or does it seem like every time someone posts something on this forum someone has to interject something negative? I consider myself a car guy, not a Corvette guy. As I said earlier, amazing time.

If the 570 is that quick, I'm curious as to what the other Mclaren models can run. The 570 is supposed to be the slowest of the bunch, correct ?
