Trading 2015 Z06 for2011 997 Turbo S Cab or 991 Turbo S Coupe
Gents,
The weekend new car bug bit me after I saw two desirable P911TTS in the area so I need some advice from fellow P and Z06 owners.
1st is 2011 977 Turbo S Cabriolet for $101K; 10k miles, CPO, was 181K MSRP, looks like it's about 90% condition.
Pros - auto open top? stupid fast or at least it feel like it. 2011 build quality is still better than my 2015 Z06 build quality =(.
Cons - slower than Z06, less advanced technology, no LED DRL, keyless entry etc.
2nd is 2014 991 Turbo S Coupe for 142K; 7K miles was a little under 200K MSRP, look almost new. Sapphire Blue
Pros - all the above and faster than Z06, all updated technology, look elegant and sexy whereas the Z06 it's just sexy.
Cons - 142K
My Z06 - 2015 LZ3 7 speed 92K MSRP; dealer takes it in for 79K.
Can I get some insight from previous Porsche owner or someone who have both, thank you.

All life is subjective and we all have opinions. With that said, here is my view.
I have owned at least 6 Porsche's including the most recent, a 2011 Twin Turbo. The Porsche is very fast, but after that is not "engaging". I would call it boring. Yes, the technology is state of the art, the leather smell remains throughout ownership, and for certain people, the marque carries with it status that the Corvette does not have.
When the Z06 came out, and after driving a Cadillac CTS V for a couple of years, leaving behind my BMW and Mercedes, I so much enjoyed the CTS V, I decided to buy a Z06 . I sold the Porsche and never looked back. I believe the Z06 is a "drivers car" while the Porsche Turbo is simply a very fast four wheel drive car that asks absolutely nothing of the driver. You punch it and steer.
Best

I have never owned, nor driven, nor ridden in, nor even sat in a Porsche. So I know nothing about them other than they all look alike but some are fast. They're like kids, I guess, but I have kids so I understand that part.
So, by all accounts great cars. Get ready to disappear. That's a plus for some people. There's a value in having the same styling (basically) since the 50s, and that's that only aficionados can tell them apart.

haha, I just need some insight from owners who own both or have driven both. Based on my short interaction with those two, I can only come up with what I posted as pros and cons, I just want to get more info.

Why not both? https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1591962022
I don't have any experience with the 977 but shoot me a PM if you have any specific questions about the 991 TTS relative to the Z06 ... I'd post my thoughts here but I'm bored with keyboard owners who troll these types of threads. To be fair, even I think there have been too many Porsche threads lately.
Long story short ... you can't go wrong with either car.

are you tracking the car?
if not, does it matter which one is "faster"
and by "faster", do you mean "quicker" to 60, or around a road course?
the 991.2 Turbo S should be out this year, so prices on the 991.1 will drop somewhat after the release, if you can hold out.
If not, again, either car is ridiculously fast, more capable than most mortal drivers. PDK-S only in the new turbo 991's if that matters.
I have a ZR1 and 991 GT3 (and 458), but have driven both the C7Z07 and 991 Turbo S...can't go wrong with either, but the Turbo S, although the fastest car to 60 (and 100 I think) short of a Veyron, just didn't do it for me.

I'm not tracking the car AT ALL,
It does not matter which one is faster but it does matter which one feels faster lol.
I only use it for weekend driving and spiritual driving along with my S1000RR, I only have 6k miles on my Z06 in the 1 year that I owned it.
A friend also recommended to me to get the GT3 or the R8 5.2 or the first gen. 458, with the GT3 and 458 hovering around 140-180K. and R8 100-130 depends on the years, so many choices lol.

Like Dsom said, if you are serious about getting into one wait until the 991.2 is released so you can get in after it takes another hit in price. If you want an R8 here's a R8 GT Alpha 10

I'm not a fan of vert 911's. So I'd go for the 991TT.

458 is another story...even though the numbers say it's not as fast as the Turbo S Porsche, or even GT-R for that matter, it FEELS faster and the sound alone of the flat plane crank at 9,000 rpm is worth the price (to me). There is a lot more to Ferrari than just the price of admission though....PM if you are interested in the details ($$$$$$) of ownership!
I would be very wary of a 458 with a price tag of $140k---something is very fishy about that low price--I looked for months and researched tons of cars and NEVER saw one that low. PPI and service records/recall notices are a MUST for any used Ferrari. "New Power Warranty" also needed IMHO.
What about a Gallardo or MP4-12c non-ACR Gen 5 Viper ? Those 3 have depreciated in price a lot more than 458.

Yes 991 Turbo S or non S with exhaust tune are total beasts that can be trashed all day without issue.
I just picked up 2016 GT3, picked it over Turbo as screaming 9000 rpm
down the straightway at NJ Motorsports park just cannot be beat!

991 Turbo S is the easiest decision you will make if you want to spend the money. Faster, more comfortable, better mileage, better handling and miles apart in build quality. In some ways, it does everything too well as some might say lacks "character" which is a fancy way of saying it lacks blemishes. The only thing you will miss will be the exhaust sound of the vette. The 991 Turbo S is my daily driver and puts a smile on my face at all speeds. Hopefully it has the burmeister stereo though as one of the best on the planet.
Lastly, if you want to get noticed and that is your goal, better off getting a viper for less $$ or a lambo for more $$. Those that know Porsche will know what you have and to everyone else, all 911's are viewed as special to most. To me, could car less about getting noticed, but after owning one now, IMHO, it is the best street car on the plannet for less than $200k. It is that good.
As a note, I tried all the 911 models (Carrera S and 4S, GT3, Targa S, Cab, and Turbo S). Amazing how different characters they all have. The non-turbo models exhaust note is better, but slower. The GT3 is interesting in that good for the track and ok for the street. Get an ACR if you want a track beast and get a Turbo S if you want a street beast. If want best combo of both, get the GT3.

Nick, looks like the same interior as mine...yellow belts, silver stitching, carbon fiber console
Carbon Ceramics are also a win.
do you have CF on the dash and the extended leather on the dash, steering column and doors?
Followed your RS saga on RL....we need more pics of interior!
