O.K. I have a question guys. In the first post Victor states he wants something he can use to drop the kid's off at school. I don't know how old the kid's are. But will they be comfortable in the back of a 911?

Do they make an AWD Panamara?

Yes, they do make an AWD Panamera and I have given that (and continue to give it) quite a lot of thought.

My kids are aged 5 and 7 and, like their dad, they are on the smaller side. I'm 5'5" and I can fit in the back of a 911 with only bending my head slightly. Both of my girls won't have a problem at their current age.

I've been driving my wife's 2003 Beetle as a daily driver for years and the rear seats are at best only slightly more spacious than a 911's. They've never complained about it.

The only thing if I went with a Panamera that I don't think it wouldn't kill the bug for a 911 I have. I'd probably still want to get one.

Anyways thanks for the feedback and thoughts.

My son is 13 and he has no problems riding on the back seat of my 991.

The 2013 991 is dam sexy looking and a hell of a performer.

I'd go that route as I like the looks and performance of the 991 s..

A lot of Porsches around here and that 991 is dam good looking.

I think about buying one every once in awhile and then I just start laughing at the cost to purchase, run and maintain them.

But if I wanted one...the 991 s would get my vote...

If I were in a high altitude environment I'd go for the turbo....

Good luck deciding and you have a good wife. She drives a beetle and she wants you to get a 911.

I think she is a keeper. I'm sure she has good reason to want you to buy your dream. I'm sure you do the same for her in areas she is interested in.

Have fun deciding.

FWIW, my uncle traded his 911 4S PDK for a Panamera 4S. But he's an old man, so it makes sense.

He's a very smart old man. Panamara is a great car.

I've owned 3 996s and my girlfriend has owned a '00 Beetle during all of my 996 ownerships. Backseat of a 996 is nowhere near as roomy as the Beetle. Legroom is a joke, headroom is a joke and expect shoulders to touch if there's two people back there. For kids and short trips, its good.

991 rear seat is significantly larger.

Thanks for the observations.

Fortunately nobody in my family is very large. I'm 5'5" as is my wife and my poor kids probably won't grow up to be any bigger than that either.

To be honest, so long as they fit in the back I don't care about their comfort

If the 996 didn't have the Porsche Boxster lights and the problem with the IMS I'd probably have bought one by now. A 996 turbo can be had for around $40,000 that isn't too up there in miles.

The more I look at them in person the more I really love the 991. As someone pointed out above, it's a nice problem to have when your thoughts are consumed with "which sports car for around $70,000 am I going to buy?"

He'll probably trade it in the next few months. He keeps cars for absurdly short periods of time.

This is the key point. 911 will work just fine for you.

But seriously, go drive both and make your decision. The cars have enough differences that the decision should be easier after a little seat time.
