Z06 to 991 TTS.

The grill was done as a replacement to the OEM grill and looks pretty much the same, but the honeycomb is smaller - reason being, I wasn't about to have another issue with this car, like I did with my TTS, where after 3 weeks of ownership, I took a rock through my condenser which cost me $1500.00 to replace and I drove for weeks waiting for the parts, with no AC, in the heat. Lesson learned. This addresses that. GM should never have made their grill with such large openings to allow that to happen.

Simple...I didn't want the Stage 3 spoiler in the rear; I don't like the look and wasn't able to order the car without it. I also didn't want the suspension from the Z07 package, as this is a street car, and I'm more concerned with the comfort levels of the ride, rather than having a more track capable car. I did however want the finished look of the Z07 package and wanted the CCB's, because I like the performance over the stock brakes, and I have this tendency to warp rotors. Happened on my last Z and my FGT.

Who makes that grille?
And yeah, the TT has a completely open and unprotected intake at the front of the car. I find debris and junk in there all the time (leaves, bugs, even trash on occasion). At least the Z06 has something to protect that area. So far I haven't had any issues on-track. My previous track car ('13 GT500) didn't have anything to protect the heat exchanger and it took a beating.

Ah, I forget about the Z07 suspension being ~20% stiffer than the non-Z07 cars.

Howdy!
1st I enjoy all your posts thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences. Wanted to ask were you the guy on the Shelby forum with the insane blue GT500 track car?
Cheers!

Scraping the splitter.
I was very active in the SVTP '13/'14 forum for a few years when I was heavily drag racing and tracking my stock '13.

Ha cool! I was very active on the Shelby forum around 2007-2012 or so. First pic is my 2007 SGT that went back as the first customer built 550 Whipple car. SGT/SC. I also modified the brakes and installed a brake cooling system, hood scoop made functional and a few other small things. Car was a beast. No offense but you tracked a stock 500 on a road course? The track pack on those were cool but my experience at the bashes where we HPDE the cars was that they were not very track capable in stock form. 2nd pic is my car in Shelby magazine with my pops and I leaving parking garage. Loved my SGT/SC it was a very adept HPDE car. And a blast on the street. Made all of 550 and then some on the dyno. May get another one someday, just too many cool cars in the world! 30,000 miles on the stock clutch too. Nutty car. Cheers!

I've been having the itch to move on from my Turbo S, but I cant find any one car that seats 4 ( 2 young boys) AWD and offers this level of blistering performance. My car is making close to 680 hp and is driven daily, even thru the winters.

Why would you want to move on from that?? Is it just a you want a new toy kind of thing?? I loveeeeeeee the Turbo S. Definitely on my list of cars for the future.

The GT-R is a much bigger car than the 991, with much more rear seat room and much more luggage volume.
But it's also much slower. Same day, same track a 911 TT/TTS will stomp an R35 GT-R stock vs. stock. The 911 is also a much more refined car.
So as usual, it all depends on the needs of the buyer.

You may scoff at this but what about the new 2017 Camaro ZL1 that is being released next year. It has back seats, will have the Z06 LT4 motor and will be the new kid on the block. The new Camaro is smaller and lighter than the outgoing 5th gen model. It will be a fun car to drive due to the front engine/rwd combo. Obviously it will not be as fast or refined as a Turbo S but it should certainly be fun and cheap as hell compared to your 991.
