I was looking at tests done in Europe, and noted an interesting comparison, although it's a shame the two cars weren't tested together.
In 1969 the UK's "Motor" magazine tested a 4 speed 400 hp L68 427 C3 and got 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds and 146 mph top speed.
5 years later a German tuner BMW 5 series called GS530 had respective figures of 6 seconds and 148 mph. Which seems very efficient for a car with only a non turbo 3 liter 6 cyl. Although the C3 would have a couple of seconds advantage in 0-100 mph.

In Europe both the Vette and GS530 were sold in very small numbers at a high price. So I suppose either might have been considered as a rich man's toy by a German businessman, looking for something unusual. A Porsche 911 alternative.
