Default Another mid engined thread

So I didn't buy all the hype and articles.

But then again there is one thing that makes sense with the Corvette going Mid Engine.

The Camaro.

Getting too close in performance and even in quality. The interior is cheaper, but not by much. Personally I think the only difference between a Camaro and a C7 with 85 percent of your drivers performance wise is the tires and ride height.

Different price points, different targets, different appeal but obviously nothing they do lowers the buy in target age of the Corvette so far and the Camaro is just too close in performance, almost like they made it that way on purpose knowing there is another move.

What can you get on a C7 that you cannot get on a Camaro performance wise?

Is E-diff the only thing?

The Camaro is more of a family car with the rear seat, hence made for younger owners. The Corvette limited to only two appeals to older people whose children have left the nest. Performance is limited to the laws of physics; tire, suspension, aerodynamics and power over weight. Current GM performance production automobiles have pretty much reached the limit and radical changes are needed to up performance even slightly. Mid engine all wheel drive is the only alternative, unfortunately will come at a price prohibited to many. Personally, the C7 has all and more performance than I use and priced at my willing to pay limit. A zero to sixty time of four seconds and lateral G of one is enough for me.

Performance wise you make a good point. But they are two completely different cars with two different consumer targets. However it certainly would not hurt the Corvette to move up a notch and offer a mid engine version.

911's have back seats.

I see Camaro's every single day, 30 a day. I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've seen someone in the back seat.

Go sit in one and see if you have a different opinion. The center console is hard plastic which really cheapens up the interior. However mostly everything else is covered like the C7. The infotainment system is better, the IP is nicer. The seats look overly bulky.

MRC, NPP, PTM, etc...and now it handles well too and drives great.

Not to mention it looks great. In pictures it presents itself poorly but in person they did a great job. It looks fat but I don't doubt they left those proportions to keep it looking bigger than the C7.

Are people going to go buy Camaro's if they can afford a C7, not really. But if GM wants a true halo car, it needs to be a halo, not a 2 door Camaro with some nicer parts.

Technology wise the CF body parts and some weight saving technologies are all that really separate them outside of design.

Sgm sold out it's original estimate of z28 s and. Then decided to up production to meet most of the unanticipated extra demand.

I'm not a fan of the new camaro styling....it's ok just not my taste.

The performance is outstanding.

I agree with what you're saying. If you get into a ZL1 and Z28 you are already in Corvette territory for performance and price. It seems weird they would continue to let the overlap happen.

This "mid engine" car is not going to replace anything.... the corvette will still be around.
