Bye bye Z, hello Hellcat.

Congrats on the Hellcat. I was looking at them when we took my wife's dodge van in for service. They are very nice cars and probably better for a DD with 4 doors. This is a rough crowd here ;-) I drive a 16 M3 for a DD and am sure that gets frowned on here as well. I do plan on ordering a Z06 soon though so I can be part of the corvette club.

I daily drive a 2013 Daytona Edition Charger R/T and use the Z for my thrill ride.
I have to agree with the OP as I could not fathom driving a Z car in the rain for six months out of the year. Been there, done that when I lived in Orlando. The 'Cat will fair better: Valet Mode for bad weather moments and Sport Mode when the Sun beams down. Life is good!

Lol traded for a Chrysler. How does it pull harder with those skinny tires?
That being said, awesome winter car for sure
How much did you get for the Z in trade?

The benefit of the Hellcat is the winter months; I will be getting the SUV version once ordering begins next year. Pull...strictly because of seating position and that's a given. I test drove the Hellcat before my order was accepted. Comfort not a chance in the world... The Hellcat is typical of North American muscle cars IMO where pain and power go hand in hand... the C7 broke free of that. The Hellcat is a heavy car intended for straight ahead muscle and Mopar lovers cover a huge contingent of the enthusiast crowd; it also blends into the crowd very well.

Challengers, Camaros, Mustangs, ets, belong to a class of cars known for decades as sporty or pony cars. Not Sports cars as in corvettes, vipers, porches, etc. Even a Hellcat with all that power will never do well those things that define a true sports car. JMHO. Congrats to the OP for picking a fast cat that better fits his daily needs.

If I had to have 4 seats and 4 doors and didn't want to spend over $65K I'd definitely have a Charger. The CTS-V at $90K is just too much more money, even though it's way more capable on a road course, it's the wrong weapon. Also add that the Hellcat's appear to have sorted out the tuning and can put 800hp to the wheels with very minimal mod-money.

To each his own and if you're happy that's all that matters. I went from a 'practical' CTS-V wagon and after three years desperately needed a sports car again. Having done an autocross and a track day in the past 8 days, I'm madly in love with my Z06. I got bumped up to a higher run group but the instructor said he couldn't check me out on one skill...point-bys. I didn't get passed a single time all day.

Congrats on your new HellCat and glad to hear you like it better in your south Florida weather....trust me, I can understand that and would agree with ya. As far as which is quicker, I'll let all the other experts argue that one. One thing very likely (maybe even a sure thing) is the value your HellCat will hold over the Z06 or Stingray. Hold on to that monster, she'll pull very nice numbers as a percentage of your purchase price, as time goes on, likely well over the Z06's percentages. But, the Z06 is prettier than that beast, that's for sure!

The quoted 0-60 times/quarter mile times I've seen are 2.9/10.9 for the Z and 3.7/11.7 for the Hellcat so I don't really see how the Hellcat "pulls harder". It also weighs almost 4600 lbs. so that extra 57hp has to pull a **** ton of extra weight.
Having said all that, if I wanted a fast 4 door sedan I'd probably go with a Hellcat over an M5 or E63. Might take the CTS-V over all of them, though.

In a straight line the cars are pretty comparable, both demand respect regardless!!!! The Charger HC is a car that performs well all the way around (4door) but we all know the C7Z will beat it up around the track. Anyone in the know is informed of these facts so beating a dead horse is a waste of time.

Recently drove one on the track and it was amazingly surprising. Saying the Z is a better track is just silly....I mean that goes without saying, but I wonder how many who say that and never track would lose to an experienced driver driving the big four door...
Congrats OP, Dodge is putting out some might fine products these days

Sweet car, congrats on the new car. I love the Hellcats. They are such an American idea, I love it. I mean, come on, 700 freaking horsepower. That's awesome. And then you put it in a freaking family sedan? That's as pure American Muscle car as it gets folks.
That family car next to you at the light just might be a badass. I love it.
