Default LSx and trans compatibility Q- for 02 Silverado 1500

Have 5.3 may be time to go through it

Believe this is 24 tooth reluctor?

4L60E trans 4L80e not in the cards for now period.
Not working right now so every dime I can save counts

Hate to rebuild stock ci unless $ says I have to
Long as its fresher and makes more power than it does now Im happy

WIll an LS1, 6 or 6.0 bolt up without getting into adapter type pieces?

Cores for 6.0 are insane out here, trying to do a real budget rebuild type deal.
Rings bearings gaskets cam (of course!)porting maybe some better manifolds tad more compression call it a day.
Its just a DD isnt worth much but with 180k on it currently think its about time. Last yr seems to really be down on power using more oil

Suggestions, where can I find teh best deal on the biggest ci of the 3?

Build is not wanted or planned, just has to be right now.

LS is an LS pick n pull yards offer the best deals. Another 5.3 would be best. 6.0 are in escalades and denalis more than pick ups. The 6.0 will require injectors. Of course the 5.7 should work but you probably will want to stay with truck intake.

With your loss of power using oil early LS engines had issues with carbon build up and sticking rings. You might try a decarboner intended to soak and dissolve carbon freeing rings. GM top engine cleaner is a good one but it's not available in all areas anymore. It may help and it's considerably less the an engine. Local dealer maybe to recommend a product they use. Manufacturers generally don't jump in and re-ring engines on first comment about oil use. Many times they will want to try a chemical process first. Then if condition persists repair/replace engine.

its used oil since new its just tired doesnt have the oomph it used to
180k probably time. Think thats whats eating up the cats notice last yr or two Im getting a lot of pinging, has to be oil. Know the valve seals are shot.

Summit has new blocks for little over 300 rather just find one complete with not too many.Just doing a basic ring/bearing deal nothing fancy

Id do an LS1 but sellers on Cl think those and 6.0s are gold plated. no way Im paying 1000 for a used up motor.

Little more compression, some head porting and a small cam oughta wake it up a little bit.

Would love to have a Turbo 400 in this thing dont mind losing OD but dont know how to make it work with the flexplate, computer etc.

Anyone know how to do this? Ive put 4-5 trannies in this thing current ones getting tired. I know a well built 400 would last forever. Those things are unbreakable

To install thm400 there should not be much to it. Transmission, 32 spline yoke, reflash pcm to a manual trans. PRNDL is mounted to trans a little custom wiring. that should get you there. You will need to fab a detent switch for electric kick down. 6.0s a standard on escalades

Default Check your local Craigslist

If you could scare up a set of used 243 or 799 casting heads off an LS6 for $300-500, that would wake that little motor up quite a bit! Check out BTR truck cams!
