Cheap car for work use
Working for myself again, and will be traveling/driving more frequently.
Most of my driving will be along the 95 corridor from DC to Boston, along with monthly trips to the Rochester/Buffalo area (snow)
Probably in the range of 20k-25k miles per year.
I have been driving Audi's since 99, and have had no major problems , love the comfort and performance and could justify the more expensive cost as a write off , or by using a car allowance.
Flash forward to today, I want to start off lean and mean, so I want to start looking at lower cost options.
I will be using this car 100% for bussines travel.
Thinking of going with a small Honda, Subaru or Toyota.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks,
Rick

I have a 2013 Dodge Dart for work and just running around. Was one of the Repo's I purchased from the bank after I picked it up. WAS abused beyond belief before I got it, we cleaned it up and has been great ever since.
Averages 34 mpg, is comfortable to drive and does look sporty for what it is. Only suggestion I would make is get one with a cruise control, that was an option in 2013 and wish this one had it.
Best part is there price point is still under $20k for most models.

Subaru will get you through the snow, but you will pay for it the rest of the year with mpg.
Honda/Toyota are always a safe bet. If you can get your hands on a dieselgate car, that would be the best for highway mpg.
Personally, I would get myself into something I wanted to be in since so much time is going to be spent in the car. Probably a used 1/3series, XF, IS, A4/5, G8, CTS/ATS with as many options as I could afford.

My .02 is that if you go low budget on a Business car and will be driving 25k a year you'll be kicking yourself in the butt for not buying a car that you like and enjoy driving. It may not have to be an Audi or like but at least something that's you look back at after parking and like looking at, be comfortable driving and enjoy.
As they say, Been there, Done that.

I may also look into leasing something, I know if you buy the miles up front, it's not as bad as going over at the end of the lease.

You can't go wrong with a Subaru WRX or low end Legacy. As mentioned above, you will give up a little in the MPG area but will be very happy when the snow flies.

I got a Focus RS for my daily driver, it's a lot of fun. AWD, 6 speed, 350hp, I'm not sure what cheap is to you, or if you just want something mundane. They run ~$40k.

New or slightly used, leasing might not make sense because of the high miles.
Wish I could get my hands on a diesel gate car.
Any suggestions on how ?
I'm going to stop at the local VW dealer and check out the golf awd sportwagen this week.

Was talking to a friend of mine and he mentioned a brand new Chrysler 200. They stopped building them but you can find brand new ones for a steal! 13-15k and it's brand new

Keep in mind, if you use the car for your business, you can deduct the mileage and/or depreciation....

That was a nice car....I think the rear seat headroom was a little tight compared to a few competitors but other than that's...it was a fine sedan...
Good looking and ownership is less than most leases...plus you can always sell I think anytime you want...

There is a reason they stopped making the Chrysler 200.

look at Leasehackr. Even if you have to pay some mileage penalties, they were running under $100/month with certain incentives. Crazy
You might also look at a Malibu. Apple Car Play standard...decent car for $20k new.

I have a 2016 Subaru XV Crosstrek as my DD. I've taken quite a few trips to Tuscaloosa, AL from Maryland. Nice gas mileage, comfortable and did well in the winter weather. Not too expensive either.
