Default Cadillac XT5 Vs Audi SQ5

My wife and I were all set to trade in her Cadillac SRX on the new XT5 -until we were at the Auto Show and she saw an amazing BLACK 2017 Audi SQ5 and now she wants a hot SUV. The Xt5 is a nice looking, solid luxury vehicle, but there is no performance option.
Our Corvette spoiled her -she wants a performance SUV and I love that in her.
Anyone have an Audi SQ5 that can tell me if they are a solid SUV -every thing that I have found seems to be fairly positive -but they all remind you that there is a new one coming Spring 18 and we won't be waiting until next year.

I don't have one, but I have an Audi S4, and the SQ5 is basically an "SUVed" S4 (they have the same mechanicals, and similar chassis). The SQ5 is a real solid performance SUV, and the new generation ones, coming out soon, should be even better. Build quality is top notch, it has proper sport seats, the supercharged 3.0T engine is great, and they handle nice (for an SUV). Go take it for a test drive, I think you will be impressed.

The Porsche Macan is the P-car version, more performance, less practical, and higher priced......

Thanks, that's all good to know!
We are going to test drive both.

Default Sq5

I have a 2015 SQ5 and just bought my first 2106 Vette. My wife loves her SQ5. I love the thing too. Very fast and nimble. Zero issues with it. Had it for 2.5 years but only have 18k miles on it. The 8 speed trans and all wheel drive is flawless. When turning at slow speeds you can't even tell it's all wheel drive.

When we bought it there were only three new vehicles in the state of Florida available. Had to bring it in. Paid through the nose for it, but had to have it. Now we are looking at the $925 payment thinking it's time to trade.

We love Audi. I travel to Germany a couple times a year and drive around with coworkers that have different models. But recently we have been looking at the electronics packages and I cannot see the advantage anymore. The MMI display is years behind the other companies. Entering an address into the GPS is annoying. The controls on the steering wheel are annoying(now upgraded slightly for 2017) are still annoying. I hate the rolling volume press to select. I will say though, the Bang Olufsen is the best sound I have ever had in a car.

My 2015 Tundra, 2016 pilot and even my 2016 vette have better entertainment controls and options.

Overall the SQ5 is a great car. Love the sound from the supercharged 3.0. The paddle shifting is a blast.

I just wish the Vette had the same quality 8 speed auto trans. I bought mine three weeks ago (21k miles) and it has been in the shop for the last nine days for a new converter again. The previous owner had one replaced at 11k miles.

Good luck

Sister has a 3.0T Q5. The SQ5 is basically that with more boost and brakes/suspension/kit. They don't hold value for **** and aren't particularly reliable. Surprisingly good on gas, but IMO really lacking in features for the money.

Get her an srt8 Jeep for the same money and be faster, more comfortable, better resale, better reliability, and equal quality.

Have an Audi S6 and love it...yes it's not an SQ5. The Audi will blow the XT5 out of the water when it comes to performance. However, I love the XT5! Had one as a loaner the other day and loved the car. Pretty sure it's roomier than the Audi as well!

A Jeep being more reliable than an Audi? WTF are you smoking? My brother had a GC SRT8. Not only are they perhaps the worst vehicles as far as real world fuel economy, but his diff started leaking at under 40K miles. Our 2012 and 2013 Audis have been dead nuts reliable.

S4 owner here, bought it new in 2013 and its been one of the best cars I have owned. The 3.0T supercharged engine is bulletproof. Fit/Finish is superb and the SQ5 will be a blast to drive. I'd put Audi reliability over Jeep any day of the week

My WK2 Grand Cherokee had no issues. Can't say the same for sisters Audi. Problems with the SRT8 are exceedingly rare.

I've got 2 close friends who are techs for Jeep dealers...... Tons of issues/stories. Dodge/Jeep reliability ratings are way down the list from where Audi ranks. Audi is 5th and Jeep is 23rd on the list.
