And you could buy a $5K LT1 F-body that would be a better vehicle in pretty much every respect, but that isn't the point. If the OP really thinks the car is worth it, then it is worth it. It doesn't matter what you, I, or the market says.

Even if you paid "too much", it obviously meant something to you on an emotional level, and therefore worth every penny.

The 5.0s pretty much owned the streets in the late 1980s/early 1990s. I owned a 1989 GT, 1991 L98 Formula and a 1986 Grand National, so I think I am pretty unbiased as how I remember that era. I also bought another 1992 GT and 1989 Formula later in life.
Some of the best times were the 5.0 versus Turbo Buick shootouts at Atco Dragway.
