I love the new ZL1...but although I admire the looks of the 6th gen Camaro...I think GM needs to go further in the styling department in departure from the first or fifth gen.
I understand the cool retro look and why GM did that...I want a totally new look...more Porsche 928 evolution off the panamera...
I think it ll never happen but possibly as the corvette goes mid rear engine...there will be more room for GM s two plus two...
GM s last concept Buick based off the Camaro might have gotten my money...as I'm in my mid to late fifties and I don't want to own a retro like camaro but the performance of the ZL1 is awesome....
And for those that dig the 2 plus 2 look of this modern retro look...the Camaro ZL1 is definitely a great way to go...

So, if a plain Jane Camry is $27,000 - $33,000 how much should a car that hands M3s their asses cost?
If the 1LE is smoking M4GTSs or whatever and is $30,000 - $40,000 cheaper is it really too expensive?

Newsflash, cars are getting more expensive. Average transaction price is now over $30,000.

At the end of the day, it's still a freaking Camry - or Camaro. There's more to the value equation than performance.

Add to that the Camaro is going to be approx 100x cheaper to own/maintain than the BMW and it seems like a no-brainer.

And what's wrong with a Camaro? It's basically as fast as a Z06 for $20K less and has back seats. I also think this track Camaro looks better than the Z06.

Badge snobs have a problem with it.
They ignore that it shares the same platform with a Caddy and can dominate anything from BMW, Audi or Mercedes priced within $40,000 of it. Visibility is improved from the prev gen and the interior is nicer as well.

There's nothing wrong with a Camaro. I have a problem with an $80,000 Camaro. It's an answer to a question no one is asking. It's a great performer on the track but not on the sales floor I would predict. Don't look for a flood of German car trade-ins on this one.

GM isn't going to be upset if they don't sell a ton of them. It's somewhat of a "halo car". They make their money selling SS and V6 models. Given CAFE regs, I would assume doesn't want to sell a million ZL1s.
