Any Interest in an Olympic Peninsula Tour Next Summer?
Based on some of the responses to my thread about the recent trip I took around the Olympic Peninsula, I thought I'd put this out there as a very informal, very preliminary interest survey to see how many might be interested in doing an overnight Olympic Peninsula tour next summer. Suggested route might start in Tacoma, going up Hwy 16 past Bremerton, up to and across the Hood Canal Bridge, up through Sequim and Port Angeles.
After Port Angeles, a stop at Crescent Lake would be a great spot for lunch. Then on to the Forks/Coast area where there's the Kalaloch Lodge right on the coast for an overnight stay. There are other places to stay including Lake Quinalt that we could discuss as well.
As kmcoldcars mentioned, there are some interesting side trips, some waterfalls and the Hoh River Rain Forest that could be explored. I'm thinking there would be plenty of opportunities for some great photography featuring our Vettes in the foreground.
Anyhow, just going to put this out there for us to think about for next summer...maybe think about penciling it in on your 2015 calendar for perhaps the first or second week of August. And I know it's REALLY early, but hey, a little planning ahead never hurt anybody!
Going during the week would make driving a whole lot more pleasurable without so many weekenders clogging the roads. Just sayin'...

Sounds like fun, we should have recuperated from the 2014 Caravan by then
Why not have a meet up down by the OR border and let your neighbors enjoy your wonderful state!!

I really like this idea, Joe. It's not clear to me if your route took you through Pacific and Copalis beaches, but there's a great place called Seabrook just north of Copalis that we might want to consider for an overnight. Big roomy houses that will sleep all of us 'cept Walter.

Not suggesting this is THE place to stop but it's worthy of consideration and close to the casino at Ocean Shores, for whatever that's worth. And they have a wine shop and a bar.
Would also give us a chance to have a kite flying festival on the beach.

Yes, Keith, I need to get the C6 Aero Lightweight (one of 42) out of the garage. I also need to get my motorcycle out of the garage and sell it. It'll break my heart but it's probably time to give up acting like a biker.
Very funny. Are you out shopping for yet another C4 in some odd color, say like "gangrene". You seem to be cornering the market on C4s in colors that the rest of us ignored.

Here's A Bit of Historical Information
Received this today by way of my historical connections.
The Long and Winding Road: On August 26 and 27, 1931, a public celebration marking the completion of the 330-mile-long Olympic Loop Highway (U.S. 101) was held in Kalaloch. Six years later, on September 30, 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt visited Port Angeles, then toured part of the loop. He signed the act creating Olympic National Park the following year.

My dad & I would also be very interested as he lives in Quinault & I am in Elma. We have another non corvette trip during the second week in August so we would have to keep an eye on which week this would happen in Aug. Either way sounds fun.
