Burning Brakes
[QUOTE=Red Racer;1590380423]Hey George....how close are you to those fires? Seems like every summer you have to worry about them. Hope all is well with you.[/QUOTE
For now we are at a low simmer, antsy but safe. Fires have settled down in the upper Methow Valley and the smoke is gone. Not out of the woods yet as there is no snow retardant on the surrounding hills yet.
The fire got to around 1/4 mile north of the house. Houses across the valley from me, out the living room windows are burned right up to their yards. But none were lost near me.
That DC-10 (Bomber 911) is amazing with 11,600 gallons of red fire resistant paint every trip.

So right now the weather is great. I just talked to Rich who owns the lodge and he tells me only 2 of you are still coming. HDLarry and Olympic have reservations at the Lodge still.
If that's not you and you plan on attending please let me know and confirm your reservation with Methow River Lodge and Cabins.
There will be 6 of us attending from the local area.
George and Sally, Jerry and Chris, Ed and Gail

I still plan on coming alone in a Mercedes GTS and just confirmed that the Lodge still has my reservation. I was probably forgotten for no longer owning a Vette. Not a problem.

Just got off the phone with Rich at Methow Lodge (he's a native of Port Townsend!) and cancelled my reservation. Not so much due to the fire episodes but rather my wife (for whom I'm a caregiver) has taken a turn for the worse. Will miss the camaraderie and Corvettes. Another time.

For the few who are still attending this weekend we are heading into our last grasp for summer weather over here. Sally and I returned home around midnight this morning.
Currently 70 degs and sunny.

Saturday is for a high of 94 degs and Sunny with 0 chance of precipitation.
Sunday's outlook is a high of 86 degs and partly cloudy 0 chance of precipitation.
Fires have settled down so the air is pure and clear.

FYI: I have not made plans for your group. As it's the first I've heard your large group is planning on attending the car show and will be in Winthrop this weekend.
Town will be packed so I hope your folks have reservations for lodging and dining
Look forward to meeting you and your group.

George, what a wonderful car show. We thought we couldn't enter because it was a "vintage" car show, but lots of newer car were in it! Wonderful little town. We should have photos posted later in the week at Mthoodcorvettes.com website "photos" We had a wonderful time for a 3day tour of your wonderful state. Mostly the northern portion. We "girls" want to go back up to Leavenworth to SHOP!!!
